I found out about cave story modding and the cave story forum after watching some cave story mod/modding videos. I'm currently working on a mod of my own, and hopefully it will be finished some time before summer break.

It's not to be nasty to you, it's trying to avoid making any more mistakes.

...Then what *CAN* I do?
As of now, I am currently panicking about my solution to a mistake made when I panicked about a mistake.
That's probably not a good thing.

You seem to have the idea that making mistakes is a bad thing, when in reality it's really important because it helps you learn a lot.
Don't be afraid to make mistakes. I mean, have you seen some of my old projects? But I haven't become a shut-in because of them - they've made me a better person.

 

I haven't seen some of your old projects, but I'd panic if anyone knew how much of a mess some of mine were.
I did learn from them, in the technical sense(word$ is not a substitute for a proper parser. word$ is not a substitute for a proper parser...).
And after realizing what a piece of rubbish it was, I was kind of wary of releasing things.
I am happy that AFAIK no copies still exist in the wild.
But I'll go through with what you said, because it sounds a lot better than panicking.
...I panic way too much, it seems...

 

Sometimes it hurts when you make a mistake (and sometimes it doesn't). Don't sweat it. Everyone does it and it will do nothing but improve you.
