I don't know if there was actually meant to be a cake item to obtain prior to the level, or was I actually supposed to get the cake in the level before giving it to the guy?

There doesn't really need to be a flag set if you start with the cake in possession already, but it'll aesthetically make the player feel more comfortable with the cake in possession from the start if you're told to deliver it in the starting room.

As for the platforming, it could be smoother, without having to hurt yourself to get out from the space the life capsule was in or having to take leaps of faith to avoid death by spikes or enemies without missing the platform.

 

You can get to the life capsule without getting hurt by holding the jump button. As for the cake, I will add that in the next release.
You can get out of the life capsule area without taking damage if you time your jump correctly.The cake will be in a chest next to the first sign.

Don't quit modding. You've only started! I genuinely believe that if you put the effort in, you can make something enjoyable for everyone.

 

I think most people are talking about the fact that some jumps are either near-pixel perfect, or are platforms that are occupied by critters, making it impossible to get on withoud being hurt, unless you managed to get the level 2 bubbler in some cases.

AAR makes these videos for the new mods(except mine. *SNIFF*, Why AAR). and whilst I had no trouble getting through your mod, there is something called gradual difficulty where you start at a pace that any one who knows basic platforming can traverse the first parts without consequence and difficulty will be spoon fed to them along the way.

It's not like the whole mod is bad, seeing as it is V0.0.2, I expect that you are planning to change alot anyways.
Just change a few things later and it might turn out good.
