Mod Night

Ever heard of Mod Night?
About once a week, a group of Starcraft players get together to play Starcraft modifications on private servers, like over Hamachi.
I found some videos to show you guys both the Mod Night and some mods to get you interested



So whaddya think?

 

So...
A fight between 120 Battlecruisers and 960 Mutalisks.
Which wins?

 

Mutalisks. That's easy.
120 Valks against 60 Battlecruisers. Who wins?

Dude.
The answer is actually the Battlecruisers.
No Y-Gun, either.
Just a straight-up shoving match.
The 120 BC's take down 960 Mutas.

And, uh...
Valks 9 times outta 10 if the Cruisers don't have Y-Gun, 7 times outta 10 if they do.

 

Just goes to show, idkfa about StarCraft. But I still play it, for some reason.

 

Valks: Best Air to Air unit in the game.
At least in terms of damage per second.
I mean, they start out doing 48 damage, and upgrade to 72 at full-out.
Seige Tanks of the air, I say.
(Granted Scourge do 110, but that's a 1-shot deal.)

 

Okay I know all that. I'm just not a very good strategist. I've played StarCraft since I was eight. I think it's the best RTS in the world, but even so I'm an FPS man.
Still, StarCraft is awesome, and if you want to beat me at it sometime I'd be happy to lose.

What do you mean by "location"? Don't pick a shitty place for an expansion? Don't attack your opponent's only cluster of Photon Cannons?

Location: a.) Build your defences smartly; near the edge of a cliff or in trees. b.) Position your scouts smartly; at resource nodes or choke points. c.) Angle of attack; go for the soft spot(s).

My version is Turret, Bunker, Tank for defence, and Science, Wraith, Valk, Battlecruiser for offence*. And yes, I'm a Terran player, though I'm pretty good with 'Toss on maps with lots of choke points.

* = This is a Turtlebreaker Combo. Ideal ratio is 2:12:12:6. Science Vessels provide detection and EMP Shockwave for use against the Protoss. Wraiths provide the bulk of the attack force. Valks are the anti-air escort. Battlecruisers tank, especially with a D-Matrix, as well as Y-Gun any towers (Especially Photon Cannons...). The only counter I've found so far is an enemy with more Valks than you. Even then, they flail against cloaked Wraiths. And remember: More Science never hurt (within reason; bring more against the Zerg to Irradiate their fliers). And neither did more Wraiths. 12 Valks is the limit, but you can get away with just 6 or 7, and you can do this with 1-6 Cruisers (the more, the better...).
