Spur and the Snake

Yes, the Snake is great, and I prefer it over the Machine Gun. I've always liked the Spur more, but the Snake makes the Core easy, so I have gotten the Snake more. Plus it gives you an advantage in the Sacred Grounds.

The snake is a wonderful item, and I think that, in my opinion is the best overall. The Nemesis is my 2nd fav, but it gets annoying when you SLAUGHTER the enemies, then gain xp

 

i use mainly the Polar Star and Blade until i get the Spur.

 

Ive never been able to beat cave story without the snake.You see i think i heard somewhere the snake does more damage per second with some button machine skills it easily rivals the spur.Also in this section of the hell stage well ill use a text map.

You can easily snipe the two rightmost archers (sorry if my map sucks first time i ever used text to make a map).And you have to charge the spur to do that huge damage.I like a weapon that i can react quickly with the snake i can do great damage to anyone with button mashing (or on my case key mashing).And to do great damage the whole laser you fire with the spur has to pierce through the enemy for maximum damage.

Also, you can get past those Butes pretty easily anyway. They suck at aiming down.

yea but with the snake you can hit them while you climb up.

But ill be honest i dont know why i cant beat the hell stage with the spur.

I will always use the Spur on future playthroughs.
Spur can:
Kill enemies, with charging lag.
Destroy bosses, with charging lag.
Dosen't level down.

Snake:
Goes through walls.
Impressive damage.
Levels down.

So what I'm basically trying to say is, is that Snake is better for speedrunning, the Spur is better all-around.



I can tell what part that is, and you can just get hit by an arrow or one of the Butes to avoid getting killed by the lower spike, instead of wasting your time with the bomb above.

I was talking about using the shortcut for speedruns, but yes, otherwise it would be pointless.

ditto Whimsical Star. abuse the range of the thing man, it's not a perfectly maintained orbit.

Snake: Very good, but is worse than the spur in most cases, except for hell speedruns.
Spur: Requires no experience. Lvl. 3 Polar Star. With Lasers.

 

Actually I`m now doing a snake run. It`s actually lousy that it shoots like an S shaped beam.

it's an effort yes, but it's better for survivability to hit stuff through walls with the Whimsical Star while using the Spur than to bring the snake. it just takes longer to use the Whimsical Star as anything but point blank bonus hits.

The Whimsical Star can also help by being a shield.

 

Just a minute ago I finished CS with Snake. It is really really really worthless against the Undead Core. Even Bubbler lvl3 was more help.

Really? The Spur always knocks the Undead Core out real fast. He closes his weak pont after taking a certain amount of damage, and the Spur does that right away at Max.
And since when was the bubbler useful

 

you bothered using the Spur on the Undead Core? i use it against Sue and Misery, then Super Missile the core to hell

 

That makes no sense: You should save the super missiles for hell.

 

last time i played CS with all missile expansions, i finished the Undead Core with 6 missiles left (all you need to crack the energy capsules in Hell using just the missile launcher), and i never use them except against Ballos, by which point i've looted enough missiles off dead monsters to totally rape 2nd and 4th forms.

What.

The Spur's the single best weapon against the Undead Core.

The Undead Core closes for long enough to charge the Spur fully, and the max-charge Spur does 86 damage to it, more than can usually be inflicted before it closes.

 

Sorry guys I accidentally wrote Spur instead of Snake above. I fought the Undead Core with Snake. Spur is awesome almost everywhere I know. The Snake was weak against the Undead Core, not the Spur.

Yeah, the Snake's not great against bosses.
