Rated PG13! (Sort Of)



In this mini-mod, Quote and (most of) the Cave Story characters are on their way to a Spring Break college party at King's house! What sort of completely appropriate shenanigans will they get themselves in to?

Secrets: (for lazy people)

There is a Special Ending that you can get at any time after entering the Mimiga Village. Just go to the reservoir and talk to Kanpachi.



You can get a special weapon by getting Curly's Underwear in the Sand Zone and then sleeping in her bed.



There are several tombstones with writing on them in the Graveyard.



If you go to the part of the Deserted House where the Sand Croc usually is, and search the table there, you can get a special item that you can later give to Jack for a Life Capsule.

Still Needed:

Sprites for the Blade to make it look like you're throwing a beer bottle. My previous attempts to do this failed miserably. If someone could do this that would be great.



To Do List:

Do something with the backtracking after the Misery fight. Hmmm....

Fix the oversight with Jack and the Bong.

Avoid getting murdered by Polar.

Mod review

I am going to have to mirror Aar's statement, the dialogue was pretty forced and cringe-worthy. The actual game... well, it's Cave Story. I really should have quit playing once I realized this but I guess some morbid curiosity got the better of me about wanted to know what the ending was (and this is funny because I was the one who critiqued the final song, so I kinda already knew what the ending was).

The custom Sand Zone level design (which I believe is the only difference between this and vanilla Cave Story, gameplay-wise) is... mixed. There is definitely a case of enemy spam (especially with the walking skull guys), but I do admit the Armadillo behind the partially concealed wall was clever.

A <PRI would have been better here. Also back at Chaco's house because of the bats.

NO NO NO! Not a good idea! I know that it's a lot less tedious going through the Outer Wall because all you have to do is go down, but backtracking like this still isn't fun!

 

So I played the mod and this actually made my semester-long spring break kinda better. The dialouge does seem to make the characters act off-character at times. The way the mod flowed, it feels like this other mod I played before (I forgot what it's called, but it's where you have to go through the game level by level without teleporters and using entrances to different places). I do have some other stuff to say in the following spoiler:

- God, you gave me a heart attack with the Mahin scene! And I was originally thinking to just ignore most of the characters. But I just HAD to think they may say something important.

- This is a subcomment on the Mahin scene, the references do feel a bit forced.

- I honestly think the TIMG hack was a bit unnecessary for the ending. It could've been done with it as a background or as foreground/solid tiles.

Yeah this mod was originally going to have a plot and also *not suck* but I got Skyrim on Monday and was playing it nonstop, so this got neglected. I wanted to finish it by the end of break so.... this is the result. The characters were not meant to be in character. Making a whole set of new characters just for a mini mod and while also using the original graphics would've been pointless and stupid. Also I only had 6hrs to do it so.... In response to PolarStarGame's post....

Thanks, I did do pretty good on the Safety mix.

TPcool: Yeah that one is a WIP from my Remix Project. I think the melody is fine but I shouldn't have screwed with Track 3.

I did regret putting the Sand Zone there with just the Bubbler which is why I added the

And you guys seemed to ignore Seasons.... and a huge chunk of my post....

The part with Jack and the drugs was an extreme oversight. I won't post a new version until I can procure sprites for the Curly Brace, however.

Anyways, about rushing the mod to get it out before the end of break. While it makes sense that you'd want to finish the mod by then, it's always better to opt for quality. Just my two cents.
