Something's wrong with this forum

It's doing some weird things to me, like it bans my e-mail on my first attempt registering, and have to make one whole new e-mail account just for this(worth it, though). And I don't think I've ever done anything with my e-mail accountS down here. You ban three of my accounts like you already know me. 'you FBI guys or what?

I can't upload my Avatar.....

I can't PM anybody including the mods and ad........(and when that's what I should be doing when I have problems here.... how ironic)

Actually, take a look at the rules topic somewhere. It helps.

freezit4, could you explain the banning part a bit more? How can you tell your emails are banned?
I don't know if this forum has any auto-banning functions that might be behind your problems, but I guess the resident moderator would know.

How did you manage to create this account?

Avatars (and PMs too, I guess) become available after a set amount of days and posts, if I remember correctly. Maybe around a week and ten posts or so.

i agree, but most of us are off topic because there is nothing to talk about, when there is something cavestory to talk about were usually on topic for a bit

 

I think if we stop all offtopic posts from here on out, it will become a quiet place...
Every so often a topic that we already talked about will be reposted by someone new, and we'll say similar things again. Until people start getting forum assassined.
And then it will stay quiet.

I think we just need to hire someone to go through our posts and thoroughly hide bits and pieces of posts that are offtopic [if the offtopic button is off]. And if it's on it shows all!

Anybody know someone trust worthy and will work for free for ever?

Just respect the thread author maybe?

I agree with both of you. The offtopicness is alright because it flows with the normal conversation and can pick up into an ontopic discussion as soon as someone brings up the subject again. The problem is the spam and anything not related to the current discussion nor to the topic itself.

Forum issues > Discussion about offtopicness is good.
Forum issues > Discussion about offtopicness > Spambots is also good.
Forum issues > UFOs is bad.
Forum issues > UFOs > Monkeys is very bad.
3 Word Story Time > Spam infested mess that I have to clean up is worse.

I think it would be better to only lock threads where the author requests a lock, or it gets out of control...
What if someone else finds something new, in a supposebly answered thread?

Like on the Bethesda fourms, people request locking their threads sometimes when it doesn't apply anymore or their question is answered. Oh and a thread is locked after it reaches 11 pages on that forum Then they create Thread #2 etc of the same topic. Sorta useful when topics stretch for 100s of pages...

On the other hand they have tons of admins

I thinque Impulse's idea is good. Most forums just shut down threads that have already been dealt with.

I know that you banned my e-mails cause YOU said so! After each of my attempts of registering, YOU will state something like

*Your E-mail account has been banned from teh site dumbass. lol. Didn't see that coming, eh? Retry? Yes/No this site. Contact the administrator(<-- links to the ad's e-mail).

So, I could just contact the ad but I think it's a hassle.. I don't even know what I did wrong to you and have to compose one formal letter?
(I suck at writing formal letters during composition class
I think making one whole e-mail add is just the easier, lighter way )

Where do I really find the real ruling rules of the forums? These site-sharing thing confuses me quite and the rules threads didn't help me quite much. They're all just ethics that anyone that aren't pudding-syrup-jugs should know by himself.

Edit: This thread is kinda much resolved, if you cast the other things which may not affect me anymore now aside. But may I ask what 'Neophyte' really means? And do you really know what it means?
And why is there a ton of grammar mistakes to be found in the forums? (Like I'm that great of a language user) And there's a heap of spelling errors d'uh! even words like spelling get spelled spellign and grammar becomes grammer or garmmar)

He's read the rules already, if the "who's online" facility can be trusted.

 

I mean, the offtopic in the last time gets out of control, members are posting more spam and offtopic than real helpful posts. I think we should reduce the post number of some members.
