I've just downloaded all the songs I've missed over the past few months. Massive listening time!

Another three songs: http://www.mediafire.com/?6cdjnm2ux08edhm

Aftermath was my attempt at creating something that sounded like a stage theme for Mega Man. Cue to Run was, well, you know Ridley's theme? That. Begin Anew took a bit more time, and I'm pleased with the result. Everything except the ending.

And Dave, I love Midnight.

I swear, you people are set to be the video game Mozarts of this generation or something.

Ok, so. I think I'm going to start up with something a little less complicated.

Yes, that does count as less complicated, because I can easily make out the notes and it isn't going at breakneck speed; I already figured out a tempo of 120. What I need help with is: What instruments do I use? I've got the drums set up the way everyone says they should be, but I'm lost for the violin, piano, and xylophone (especially the xylophone).

For a xylophone, the tone can be sort of imitated by putting a decay on the volume envelope like this:

It sounds more realistic if it decays faster at the beginning than at the end. Same thing with the piano.

So I need to slow down the tempo to accomodate for that effect? Cuz right now, the xylophone parts are all of 2 bits long each.
And like I asked before, what wav would suit it?

Off the top of my head, I think wave 32 would work well, but experiment with a few others as well. As far as the tempo, the wait value should probably be 100 or less for the effect to sound natural. If it is, you're good, otherwise, consider cutting the wait value in half and doubling the lengths of notes.

Well, after some quick volume fixing (probably needs more), here's v1 of People of the North Pole! (aka Mt. Gagazet)
http://www.mediafire.com/?gums30y922247wc
When critiquing this, please keep a couple of things in mind.
1) This is my first ORG, obviously.
2) I did this 100% by ear, which is why the xylophone section isn't quite accurate.
3) I've never taken music classes of any sort.
So, with that stuff in mind, what do you think?
Note: Requires ORG Maker v2 to listen to and ORGKutsu to use in-game.
For the version that's compatible with ORG Maker 1.34 and vanilla Cave Story, go to this link: http://www.mediafire.com/?z3j3s7zunnem8sl
The only difference is there's less drum variety.

2 new orgs!

"To Zanarkand", the intro of Final Fantasy 10.
Done partially by ear, partially by memory, and partially by BSing. See if you can guess which parts are which.

"The Day the World Revived", the game over theme of Chrono Trigger.
Done by memory.

In addition, I updated People of the North Pole:

I increased the pitch of the xylophone notes by a full octave.

Nice starts on both of these, though they could use some improvement. Both of the originals have instruments whose notes carry over and overlap each other (i.e. the piano in zanarkand would have the pedal down most of the time). You can achieve this effect in organya by having multiple instruments on one melody (take this org for example). Also, the notes in zanarkand seem to decay a tad too quickly. The up an octave "xylophone" sounds nice (were there any other changes to that org?).

I was trying to have an overlapping effect, but I couldn't really get it to work.
What does the pedal on a piano do? x_x

And no, there were no other changes to the Gagazet org.

The pedal on a piano makes notes hold, so they don't stop sounding even after you release the key.

My piano has 2 other pedals as well: one which makes only the notes on the lower half of the piano hold, and one that makes the notes more quiet. I wonder if there are other pedals on other pianos.

But that is the most common type of pedal.

Lol yes, on some REALLY fancy pianos, the former of those two actually makes it so that any notes you were holding at the time you depressed the pedal hold, but others don't

Another three songs! Critique them if you want, and please don't steal:

I've been trying to put them into sheet music for piano, but you'd be surprised at how hard that is.

Wow, I haven't listened to any orgs in a long time. I really like all of these.
I still have problems playing some orgs (my comp freezes on some ) but hopefully that'll change once I build my new computer.

Cheese, do you have any progress on your 100k org?

Oh, this is going to be an interesting one.

Any ideas for the long, echoing notes?
