Someone needs to put the Scombine in CS. He's even got the ears.

It´s really amazing to see that a thread I started more than 3 years ago still stands strong hahaha

Re: Show of your custom characters!

Just thought it'd be interesting to put something here. It's the original sprite set from my mod.

Re: Show of your custom characters!

I made this to title a mod detailing my "algebra sucks" woes in a roundabout satirical manner, but it's as much as I cared to do and I'm done with those courses now. It's probably better to hold onto that idea and use it in a later project where more people will get to see it anyway.

No I don't really know why anyone would want to use it but at the least it's an example of one of the spriting things I'm actually good at (custom text).

If we're posting title screens too (Might as well branch out), here's the one for the mod I'm making.

I love the name, and the design is pretty spiffy too. Nice work.

Re: Show of your custom characters!

I made this to look like a friend, but still fit the CS style (aka ripping off quote).
I just hope it looks not like poop.

Re: Show of your custom characters!

Hehe, would be good for a non-serious mod. Like the one I wanted to make before I died from laziness...

EDIT: I was in fear to draw anything so far in my life since my art teacher said many times how badly I draw. Many years later I figured he could stick up his brush into...lol. Art is more feeling or at least creativity than technique, so I suggest even horrible drawers can get a chance to express themselves. So I announce a new "ism" in painting, noobism (I`m totally serious) :p So:

Re: Show of your custom characters!

I reject the idea that noobism in spriting is something to be celebrated. I believe that everyone has potential, and such sprites as that are merely the gunk clogging up the tip of the talent hose. Get them out of the way, and don't think that you can never be good, but DO NOT act like the gunk sprites are worth anything. If you think they need improvement, IMPROVE THEM!

Philosophical argument aside, it's not the worst I've seen. Has too many colors, that seem unconnected. Try making it simpler, with some shading (e.g multiple shades of each color used). And learn what antialiasing is, and use it.

Re: Show of your custom characters!

Thanks for your input. Noobism just wants to encourage people to express themselves in art and set them free. Many new movements in art were establishing more freedom prior to the previous artistic schools. The now so celebrated impressionism or the dada had many enemies, yet their place in art history is now founded. The work created by such a self-expression can be educational and serve for the benefit of the viewer in esthetical, philosophical way, or just give him the feeling of pleasure. The whole thing is like donating for a good cause. If you see everyone is donating 100$ for a cause and you only have 1$, the good thing is to donate to the world that 1$. That 1$ should be also celebrated since the idea behind giving it was noble. The point is to give and express yourself, giving benevolent artistic expression more freedom.

Re: Show of your custom characters!

I'm all for donating for a good cause. I'm just saying that after you donate the metaphorical dollar you have, you should go back and donate the other 99 when you have 'em.

EDIT: Also, a character going into my mod: Stubble and his BalrogSuit!

Re: Show of your custom characters!

I had a custom sprite sheet for Gardevoir (a pokemon), but it got corrupted a while back. :pignon:

This old animation is all that remains.
