For me only sounds can be creepy (Bioshock2), horrid images and darkness (Doom 3) not. What video game moments give you the creeps?

One of the scariest gaming moment I've ever had (the sudden scream and attack after the mumbling):

Amnesia
Penumbra
Nightmare House 2
Those are scary video games. The real deal. I couldn't even play NH2 more than like 10 minutes, and I never managed to have the guts to actually play Penumbra. I went fairly far in Amnesia, and I think I'll be able to finish, but still, oh my god.

BTW if you guys want to laugh at someone playing scary games, PewDiePie is the guy you're looking for.

His videos are so funny, goddamn.

None of these games are as mind-numbingly terrifying as SCP: Containment Breach.

to inaccurately illustrate this effect, have some gameplay featuring seananners, not knowing how to play the game.

Do you live in Scotland and raise a farm full of fearless alots?

On topic: I don't play scary games often. And when I did I rarely got scared. Only ones I really played were silent hill 3, resident evil (if that counts) and fatal frame 2. When I played those, I mostly just got startled if anything jumped out at me. Now though, I might become more freaked out, so I tend to stay away from horror games. I have yet to try out amnesia though and I kinda want to.

(Aw yeah 1000 posts)

I don't know about you guys, but I almost shat myself the first time I turned my flashlight on to a headcrab mid-jump at my face in a air duct in HL1.

Yeah dude

Also that part with the shark under the cage with the shotgun? Didn't see it, jumped in, turned around and BOOM!
I shat myself, walked back to my room and changed pants, and shat myself a second time.

When I played Ib, when you first start walking around the gallery after it gets empty a painting coughed and it sort of made me jump since it was the only thing that broke the silence. I was on edge for awhile after that.

Oh you're playing Ib too? That's awesome, what a coincidence :D

I think the part that got me was the first time a hand came out of the wall, I don't know what I was expecting from "beware the walls," but hey. Less of a jump scare, I was kind of set off by the footsteps when the gallery goes dark, they were most unsettling when I realized they weren't my own. Or maybe when the picture of the woman goes all funky after you get the rose, but after that I basically just got used to it.

Not many games get me three times like that D:

Damn...still needa check Ib out, this time without it crashing.

I downloaded Call of Cthulhu last summer (yeah I know...:/). Horror games involving stealth are the ones that get me the most, puts you right on the edge. Anyway, not sure if any of you guys have played it, but most of the npcs have these weird cloudy eyes that sort of follow you without them actually looking at you. Also, the copy I have has a glitch, so the talk to people button doesn't always work, which leads to creepy eyed npcs just staring at you for awhile until the button actually works. Gives me the chills.

Yes, invisible/cloaked enemies can be challanging, especially when first time encountered. Usually it is imperative to find some strategy against them, and that fast. I remember the few invisible enemies at the end of Crysis 2...

Oh no, I don't mean invisible enemies. I mean enemies you have to sneak past and not get caught. Still, invisible enemies are a huge pain.

Zubat is the scariest enemy of all time.

But seriously, the only games I've played that were remotely scary would probably be Half-Life 1 and 2.
