The spikes are to stop Chaco from raping him because Chaco's stupid enough to try and get the red stuff off the spikes because it looks like lipstick.

Well, it does if it's female to male. Also, there are spikes with red substance on them between Chaco's and Santa's houses, which means she would kill herself before even arriving at Santa's house. Kinda pointless to have more inside, don't you think?

We've already established that spikes are weeds, and Santa didn't bother to prune his until it was too late. And how could Chaco possibly get to Santa? Have you ever seen an NPC jump?

Actually, almost all of the NPCs walk without gravity. {As in, the walk animation doesn't make them fall when they walk over a hole}
It makes it really hard for certain cut-scenes, XD

Again, I pull up the Reverse Psychology theory.
Santa obviously gets bored in Grasstown/Bushland, and watching a moron impale himself on dangerous spikes with a warning sign right by them is a great way to pass the time

 

Either that, or he is a moron with good intentions and just wants to warn people so that they don't get themselves impaled.
