Rockfish inspired game, Spearhead

First post! I'd like to show this project I've been working on, a Rockfish inspired metroidvania game made with the Godot Game Engine.

For the next area, you'll readjust water levels to progress, so I started adding water to my water game.

Sorry for not posting for a while, I was participating on the GMTK 2024 gamejam (Here's my submission!), so my full time was dedicated to that.

Currently I'm taking a small break before working on the game again, I'll post more updates as soon as I'm well rested!

Very cute! I love games that have these very limited stylizations and honestly it's what got me started when I was first taking a serious shot at game development too.
It's heartening to see someone that's this invested in pixel art on the forum, we need more pixel artists in this world <3

Also my water game now has water that waters (+ some other stuff that I won't mention)

 

This does look as though it's coming along very nicely, it's always good to see Pixel's older/unfinished games still having some influence

I'm still not sure if I'm including one, the game's combat is completely different from Rockfish. If I were to make one, it would be similar to the one in SOTN.

 

I hate level design

Awesome to see you've picked up Godot, is this test video running in GM or Godot? I know you were tinkering with both engines for a bit though when configured right they look kinda indistinguishable

Godot! I haven't used GameMaker in years now.

 

I found a bug with the VK driver that crashes my whole system so for now sections will always be visible.

Sorry for not giving any updates! Me and my team have been working hard on delivering the demo for Goopward, the newest project I've been working on, after that's done, my focus will go back to Spearhead. So far we've released the first patch of 3, give it a try!
