Specific or obscure things in Cave Story that you like or that make an impression on you.

For me, the tiny cutscene of the fire in Chako's house reigniting when you go outside. Something about the Bushlands music, scenery, the imagery of the fire coming on and the brief half-second freeze in gameplay has this really special feeling to it.

Gender Notes: Cats are fluffy beings, this therefore makes them aliens.
The credits mentioning that there's only one chinfish. That's pretty funny.

How about discovering you can stand in Ballos' eyes, or stand on Balrog's head, ride critters :momo:
Or that one red line that denotes where to jump from... Lots of hidden details to discover.

Hmm, but something that made an impression? I'd say all the extra details that tease at the events prior to Cave Story. Hearing about Arthur's battle; about the previous demon crown bearer; the room of statues; etc... Those kinds of mostly unnecessary details led to a lot of imagining, had a lot of impact.

honestly there's a lot of moments like that, but the big one for me is probably after defeating the core and waking up from drowning - the way there's no music at all after the intensity of the fight, the eventfulness of the prior cutscene and the panic of 'oh shit i'm drowning', so you're just left in the silence to process everything and try and figure out what to do next... and then the weighty sense of finality when you leave the chamber and the shutter permanently closes behind you and geothermal kicks in; when i first played the game it elicited a very strong response in me that i still feel echoes of years and countless replays later
