I'm only up to C in my second 'work-through' of mods, a lot of mods start with C for some strange reason. And thanks for paying attention to the "I'm not anywhere near done yet" part :/ I'm very busy with university work at the moment so I don't have time to work on this, and when I'm done with my collection I'll make a post asking for what I missed and if people are happy with it and etc. In the meantime, I am quite aware of what I haven't added yet, so please don't act like I'm ignoring things.

why so serious?
you said the part abouts missing a few things was only applicable for a few days, and I saw most mods up there, so I though it didn't really matter anymore.

I said at least, and I also said "I will say when I'm done". Also I assumed you wanted an explanation for what you were pointing out, if that wasn't the case then I'll keep that in mind for the future and just not bother.

Sooooo.
Exams are done now, so I can finally get to working on this. I'm going to update the format so that only mods of notable length are mentioned in full, in order to save space. "Notable length" won't have to be very long, mind, but there's a good amount of very short stuff. Might start work tomorrow, otherwise, Wednesday. It'll be nice to finally get something finished :D

First post is 'updated'; I still need to add in Corridor and Enemy Rush and then move some stuff in from the second post, but this should give an idea of the new template and what I'm considering as "notable length/change".

We like? :>

EDIT: I think quote tags count as taking up character space  I'll stick an extra line between them all.

Looks fine. The only thing is they sort of blend together, placing each mod inside quote tags would separate them a little better I think.

I've always thought that code tags don't take up character space :/

Yes yes yes, all is fixx0rat3d now. The whole guide can be put in the first post, via super-duper physics-breaking l33t powers.

I'll still only be doing mods that with decent content in full though, to save work in general and hopefully to provide incentive to be on the Big List of Not Littleness. I think I'll put the mini-entries in the second post so it doesn't get lonely :(

Like the new quote tags? :D

Much better now that they don't blend together like before.

~ZING~
The 'big mods' section (aka the first post) is now complete. Well, probably not quite, I'm sure I've missed a couple that are either on the cusp or that I've just forgotten about. At the moment, there are 30 all told, and this is likely to change in the near future methinks :p There are probably twice that many smaller ones again too. It'll be pretty cool when I/we can finally round them all up and we can at last definitively say how many mods there really are. I haven't done any uploading yet so a couple are still missing. Also, some stats at this point in time, for purposes of interest (ZT please take note):

Length Tallies
Challenge: 4
Shortish: 5
Medium: 11
Long: 7
Extra Long: 3

Story Types (story mods only, so /26)
CS sequel/prequel: 12
CS-based edit/re-telling: 5
Mostly original (of the above, e.g. LMaP, TDP, etc.): 7
Original: 9

Orite, Status Tallies
Finished: 5 (All challenge mods or partial edits...)
In progress: 10
On hold: 3
Abandoned: 12

Some new graphics: 11
Lotsa new graphics: 10
New music: 4
Blatant self-insertion mods: 4

So y'all can stop complaining about there being nothing good to play :p

Again, I know is says "I'm done", but there will still be some kinks to work out. I have attached an image showing all the mods in my mod folder, so I'll be unfamiliar with anything not in there, including some of the mods already mentioned. As such I'll be glad to consider what else should be put in post one. However, there are a couple of things I don't think I'll put there regardless:
Direct Hell edits (e.g. Hell II, Andy's Hell, etc), and
Largely unchanged CS spoofs. I thought of putting Fjord's Adventure up there seeing as it was the first but it only goes up to Grasstown IIRC. It's also why I didn't put up stuff like The BIIIG Switcharoo, because I don't know if there are any map edits etc.
So, at least I've got that done... feedback is muchly appreciated, as per usual :)

EDIT: Orite, I would have done this sooner but I was away all of this last week.

I forgot to change anything -_- Been supremely busy, and my spare time has been eaten up by other projects. I'm not going to put a date on the update now, because working for a date on lone projects seems to be a guaranteed way to ensure that I don't feel like working on them. Consider it a super-big awesome surprise to occur some time in the next month or two. I promise that it WILL get done, as I am full of inherent guilt and will make puppies cry if I don't do it soonish.

Re: Quickie Guide to the Mods Section (update 25/11/09)

Okay main section is updated, I THINK I got everything right. Additionally I updated the blurbs and removed all "you play as" stupidity, and will upload any missing mods probably this evening. As usual comments are liked, especially if there's something I've done wrong and/or missed. Uni's effectively finished too now btw (aside from 1 semester 3 subject) so I can catch up on the smaller stuff I haven't played in the meantime.

Link change suggestion

I post this here because I do not want to bump the Original Sin thread.

After some research I have found a healthy link to Original Sin posted by Runelancer which is (post 260 in "So I started a hack". THIS IS THE HEALTHY LINK: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ONWYBSZE. Can you please include this one at the Quickie Guide?

The current Quickie Guide link leads to a corrupted Original Sin file.
If you download Original Sin from the Quickie Guide list:

diph.php

it will start properly:

diph.php

But if you press "New" I get an error message:

diph.php

If I press "Load" then I find myself in a room where the only thing to do is to shoot at a defective enemy sprite:

diph.php

...or to fall there in "lava" and die, when you get also an error message:

diph.php

Huh, you're right. That link wasn't mine btw, I don't even use esnips and honestly can't remember where I found it anyway. Fixing now.
