Protect your mod

I hope you guys understand.
I don't wanna be a dumbass who don't wants to share anything, but I wan't to know if people wan't to use my images. And I wan't some credit for my (hard) work...

I think I will explain it here better after I found out how it works, so I'm not the only one who can do this to his mods... Or her's
Well the thing to turn off the screenshot function will be amazing hard D:

i was wondering the same thing, what does the screenshot function has to do with protecting your mod??

 

You can easily take out the graphics with it, just make a screenshot with the key Print Scrn (SysRq) on your keyboard and then just use the graphics... If you would block this function noone can take out your graphics easily

Yeah, but people have to download a progam for it ;P
So they can't doing it the easy way, anyhow there will be surely a method to block this program too...

heh... you got a point there.

the mods should be protected by "locking" the pbm's and the rest of the homemade sprites, not just disable the screenshots.

 

really in all this its gonna be hard to stop copying so you just have to hope that people are gonna be fk sticks and because i would feel really bad if i stole someones material or ideas(unless they let me use them).

1.- store the pms's in the exe
2.- disable the screenshot feature
3.- no1 can steal your Pr0nz...eh, i mean sprites and stuff

Looking with a hex editor into the exe:

I think that's important to know how to load it when it's stored into the exe, since the Credit Pictures are stored too!

I said you will compress the exe, it is impossible to hack it with resource hacker then.

 

Also, people who want to steal your work are probably lazy. It's one thing to nab a bunch of PBMs from the data directory, but to actually hack the .exe? I doubt it. The only kind of people who steal are those to lazy to do anything themselves.

Well, but I don't wanna have people steal my hard work without getting something in back, which is just a damn little text thing "This was made by ShInInG PhAnToM" or something. Eh... Is it really THAT hard to write just a little sentence in your text file you will include? I don't think so...

 

I totally agree. I am saying that compressing the file will probably stop them from getting anything, because if they are so lazy that they are stealing work they are probably too lazy to go rooting through your exe.

Anyhow there could be someone just hate some people here and try to get the files and upload them... Well, however.

 

still people can use external programs for screenies... :eek:

 

At least this will make it more difficult to steal.
I'm fine with the idea, as long as you'll still let people use your stuff if they credit you.
