Proposed migration to xenForo

Will it have an infraction system we can set up because that was a problem last time (amongst other things)

I think their infraction system is more like vB's than IPB's from what I've heard. However I haven't had the time to investigate it in great detail yet, I'm still learning the ropes of XF's templating system.

 

Here's a question. You know how when you make multiple posts in a row, the new posts get added on to the old one? Will that still be there after the migration, and if so, will it work the same?

 

The dead topic message and double post auto merger will need to be looked into (no guarantees on these however).

In case it wasn't clear what Doors was saying, the "double post automerger" is the feature you are describing here. So we don't know if it'll make it in the migration.

How hard is it to type up a sentence to go along with a single quote post like that? It takes like all of 30 seconds.

This rule is a bit of a relic, since it was initiated back when people were "QFT"-ing posts (quoting for truth). But it's been a good base standard to prevent low-effort posting, which is why we've kept enforcing it.

Blink I don't think you understand the long-term value of prohibiting these types of posts
Sure the post I made was informative in its own way, but it was still against the rules and I deserved the infraction
If I didn't get warned for that post then more people might think it'd be okay to make rule-breaking posts like that and the moderators would cry

If anyone is curious I have successfully integrated the custom BBCode editor, the custom post headers, emotes, custom bbcodes, and the CSARGGH theme into the test XF forums.

Only 4 more themes to go I guess.

The UI looks nice so far, actually better than the current forums, IMO

1 week after preparations are done. That is the best I can give you. Please don't ask me to estimate when preparations are done.
