Oh, and for a IQ test of the Congress. They wanna rate pizza a vegetable because of the amount of tomato pasta, right?
But then wouldn't it be proper to consider it a FRUIT?! Tomatoes aren't vegetables!

 

I'm not sure which is a more inflammatory argument, pizza -> vegetable or fruit <- tomato -> vegetable

Ontopic: I heard of this claim three days ago, and I believe I had the same thought that was going through most other people's minds. That is, plain cheese pizza contains no vegetables at all.

Don't be a fool brother -- it is not the tomato that defines the pizza. In fact, in Italy, but a few of the pizzas have tomato on them.


Anyway, the thing that really gets me riled up is when people call some fruits vegetables. For example:
- Tomatoes
- Corn
- Squash/Pumpkins
- Zucchini
- Cucumbers
- Nuts
- Beans
etc

The amount of horticultural ignorance in today's society is astounding.

 

Strictly speaking, aren't fruits a subset of vegetables? So it's not really wrong to refer to a fruit as a vegetable?

 

I was under the opinion that "Fruit" meant plant ovaries, and vegetable was just any kind of edible plant. So, fruits can be vegetables and vegetables can be fruits.

Regardless, aren't there more things on a pizza than the fruit/vegetable/whatever the fuck? Like cheese, and bread?

For the record, Greek pizza should be considered dairy since it's basically just a half-inch-thick layer of cheese on a quarter-inch layer of bread.

Naw, a pineapple is a type of aggregate fruit. A tomato is a berry though.
