You extracted the files from the .zip first right?

 

Lemme try to rephrase it in steps.

1. Backup your original Cave Story folder
2. Download mod
3. Transfer contents of mod into the backup Cave Story folder, overwriting every file that is orignally there
4. Play

Hope it works.

Very odd. Try making a fresh install of CS.

 

This is because some files that are needed to run the game might not be included in the mod because they are unedited, and so the modder probably thought it pointless to include them..

All the modders except me I think put all the files into the .zip, when I wanted to upload the mods I just deleted the uneeded files from the zip. Not because it's pointless to include them, I've done it in order to may save some space and bandwidth.
