Hello, first I would like to say, this is a great site and forum.

Now, I have just arrived at the Labyrinth. Great game thus far!
;.
I've had the option to change to the Machine Gun, I decided not to.

1. I heard I will be able to switch it two more times, should I ever switch my Polar Star?

2. I want the secret ending my first play through, could you tell me what I need to do?

3. How far into the game am I in?

Welcome to the forums.

1. Since you chose not to get the Machine Gun, you should wait until the third chance to trade. Don't give your Polar Star to the Gaudi in the Labyrinth; wait until you can get to the First Cave again.

2. You'll have to ignore Booster when you find him in the Labyrinth (it's hard to avoid falling into the pit; you have to jump when you walk past a red mark on the floor, and the timing is medium-hard but possible), and when you get to the Core Chamber, you will have to find a sparkle on the ground that is a Tow Rope item. So you'll have to find that before speaking to Curly next to the broken robot. You'll know what I'm talking about when you get to those rooms.

3. I'd say you're a little less than halfway through.

when you get to the place where you have to open the shutters, start looking for the tow rope after opening the BIG shutter.

DO NOT READ THESE UNTIL YOU DEFEAT THE CORE, these are imminent spoilers
attach curly to your back w/ the tow rope

in the waterway, take her to the cabin and set her on the bed. Read the computer, then the journal on the bookshelf. follow the instructions, yada yada. WHen asked if you want to leave her there, say no and take her with you.

DO NOT READ THESE UNTIL YOU GET TO THE PLANTATION:
go to the bottom right of the plantation, you should find curly on a bed, with amnesia. Talk to her, then the cthulhu, and then go to the extra room that is in the Mimiga Village Cemetary. Answer the questions in the proper manner, and get the mushroom badge. Look at the badge using your inventory. talk to the mushroom again (fight him). Bring this back to Curly. Talk to her until she gives you the Iron Bond

Honestly, dont read those until you get where I told you to get.

^what he asked. Without the lipstick, you won't be able to attract Curly, hence not being able to make a bond with her

Are YOU the one who wrote on tvtropes that you needed to sleep with chaco to get the best ending? Are you?!

Someone did, and it's just horribly wrong D: .

And besides, it doesn't even make sense. Unless maybe you need it to develop your bond with curly (ew?) or maybe ballos won't let you into hell unless you're a pretty girl :) .

No, but getting it doesn't do any harm.

First time you visit Chaco in Grasstown, talk to her fireplace.
Once she finishes explaining, sleep in her bed.
When you wake up, it'll be in your inventory, along with a little suprise. ;x

First time I saw it and looked at it, perhaps some text when you look at it would have helped.

Sequence breaking - It's in.

I dunno, it seems kinda simple, once you think about it...
After spending several hours at TVTropes {Thanks, T-Jack}, I read a lot about sequence breaking, where you basically break the order of the game, the sequence, by skipping a key item or plot part or something similar.
Sometimes it's game breaking, sometimes you just skip an otherwise waste of time and maybe an item or two you could live without {Speed runners love it, for this} but some programmers actually have fun with those who do that. {Most notably would be the creators of Metroid, who have encouraged it on a number of levels}
Since apparently a lot of people get a kick out of screwing up the order of a game, Pixel was probably trying to encourage them with that red line.
The first person who made it over that gap without the Booster v0.8 probably had no idea what was in store for him.... :rolleyes:

The entire good ending is based on it. It probably wasn't for sequence breakers so much as to help people jump the gap.

Missing the point

How many people would figure out {without a guide} that you have to skip Booster and the v0.8 for the best ending?
{Not to mention everyone always goes to talk to Booster to make sure he's alright, but we know now that it doesn't help at all :rolleyes:}
No one would.
The only people who would even attempt that would be someone attempting to break the sequence.
