• Hey everyone happy Christmas Eve we're aware of what's happened with the source code so to keep this simple absolutely don't post it on the site or use it to make mods with (it's not particularly preferable toward this end anyway) and tread lightly in general until we see how this settles, thanks to all and have a great holiday season -DT

That's why I think it will probably never happen, though it would leave the position open for us.

I am still wishing I could draw, but lacking the patience to start.

Returning to the whole "lighting of the caves" thing, you could have openings in certain walls such as in the Storage Room, Grasstown, Yamashita Farm, Graveyard, near Omega, near Jenka's house, and Plantation:

csmaplight.gif

The more openings from different directions, the longer the cavern will be lit, Grasstown will have many openings both small and large to allow heaps of light in for longer, no other cavern will receive anywhere near the amount of light that Grasstown gets. Grasstown will most likely receive light between 8.30am and 4.00pm during summer (estimate) through various openings in the ceiling, the largest one being near the gum room entrance which will most likely span 20 metres or more, with a 10 metre wide one near santa's house and a series of smaller ones between there and Chaco's place, there is one other past chaco's house apart from the large one above the Gum Room entrance but it is very small and is situated above that house where that mimiga went crazy. Plantation, Mimiga Village, Yamashita Farm and Graveyard get the daylight hours that Grasstown didn't. Graveyard doesn't get as much light as the others, for effect. Sand Zone gets lighting in different areas for different times of the day. Hmm, maybe I should have put in another light source on the map.

It's a nice explanation, but exceedingly complicated and probably not worth adding to a movie, since it's not officially how the island is lighted (which is decided by pixel).

It doesn't have to be explained in the movie, but the explanation that we decide upon will affect how the lighting is shown visually.

Maybe have blurred strings of light flow through the air, or the crystal network idea, but remember that first cave, last cave, dark space or any other room that looks dark in the game should have minimal lighting if at all, Labyrinth and the graveyard should have dim lighting, and Grasstown should have the most lighting, it is basically the same situation as I explained before but apply a different lighting system if you want.

Pixel is not going to help us, but he seems to go with whatever is the standard (remember that "Curly*Brace" thing with Quote's hat), so maybe we need to make a new thread for this and ask all the other forum members what they think the light source should be.

I think a Cave Story movie should be about hard mode... And Quote would have to talk. -gasp-

It'd mess up the story line too much. Normal mode is more straightforward, and it also leaves room for a *sequel*.

Well it's hard mode with the normal ending if that makes sense, it will be as if you took all the steps to get into sacred grounds (hell) but jumped off the edge of the island anyway instead of entering sacred grounds, which is what I did the first time I played. :D

two fifths (2/5), not half (1/2). Around 40% of my posts are in this thread.

But what the heck does "skitz" mean?

800th post and still no custom user title, but I will have it soon MWAHAHAHAH!!! 5 more days to go.

The end credits for the movie should read "No Mimiga was intentionally harmed during the making of this movie". :D

"spastic" and "insane" are two completely different things. I think it may have originally been short for Schizophrenia and just changed to mean insane, because Schizophrenia is a form of insanity where you get hallucinations or lose hold of reality.
