Ok, ok...look I know your probably thinking, "oh YAY, ANOTHER project that probably WONT get finished!" but im going to actively work on this hack til its finish. I've already plunged a few months into this.

Issue 1: Is there a guide for organya? I know how to do midis and music and such.
The program itself is just confusing.

Thats it.

Im pretty good with ASM, tsc, and flags.

So I suppose its time to show some screenshots

Regarding image editing software: if you're looking for something similar to MS Paint you can use Paintbrush, which you can download (for free) here. It's built specifically for OSX.

Any questions you have about editing the game would be better asked in the General Discussion subforum, specifically the Quick Answers Thread. Running a search might also prove fruitful. As for the orgs...

Back before my old PPC died, I used Pixen before it even became a paid app. It was definitely a joy to use and I definitely wouldn't mind buying it if I get a new Mac. Right now you can download a free beta from the website or just buy it from the Mac App Store.

Also I have not used this on anything yet but Grafx2 may do the job for you too.

See: This
  • You are in the same situation that I'm in, so I am going to give the best advice I can.
  • Go to your public library after downloading any editors and/or other images you want onto a flash drive (while on your mac). Unless the library computers have administrator access that is.
  • Go edit on their computers to your heart's content
  • Rule #1 of modding: People rarely never help you on your mod, they just want to help after it's been finished. Which is no help at all.
  • Good luck (this really didn't need a bulleted list, did it? Oh well.)

You're joking, right

Those are three that I found in like five minutes. There's dozens more threads with people helping modders. They stop helping you when you don't appreciate it or just prove that it's a waste of time for them - like when you abandon a project.

You should use Booster's Lab because it is cross platform. Sometimes.

Then explain why I've been making progress on Hell Freezes Over (Edits in my last post) and no one has said "I can't wait for the first version." Plus the thread has died.
Can you see why I say that no one makes your mod for you?

We're not obligated to help you. We have lives. If we want to help you then fine, but we can't just contribute to every mod that comes around.
I'm saying that there's nothing wrong with asking for help. It's not like you're going to get banned for it or will you

I think what he means is we hope noone does. Because 9 times out of ten a kid who shows up without so much as a screenshot to his name asks for help, doesnt have the drive to see it though. Naturally this leaves everyone involved with a "bad feel". Those people are then less likely to make somethign meaningful in the future off thier own backs.

So basically helping out a kid fresh into the forum who posts his mega awesome idea on his first forum post tends to damage the community because it NEVER works out.

Im really hoping you werent saying that im just some new whippersnapper who would abandon this project in a heartbeat.

Especially since this forum topic is ideas and development which *usually* requires help of some kind.

The issue is you haven't presented any sort of work on your side. No one is willing to contribute to something that doesn't interest them except if they're extremely bored or something. If you present something interesting without assistance, then people would look at you in a better light.

That eye on the left was really starting to bother me so I did my best to fix it >_>

If you're still having trouble with orgs, the best way to get started is to try and find some sheet music of a song you want (or a MIDI with a program that can look at the notes, which you'll have to 'find' on your own) and copy it into OrgMaker. Otherwise you or whoever else will have to do it entirely by ear which is never fun.

I'm not sure I'd say that it's never fun, but it definitely can be a lot of work. I did a few org transcriptions by ear for some folks here over the summer when I had time to dedicate for that sort of thing. It was enjoyable and rewarding, but required a hefty investment of my own time. Unfortunately, though, I don't have the time to be able to do that work anymore at the moment. It's especially sad since there was another orgmaker project that I was working on but still haven't been able to finish. [/sadrant]

Well, because of all the half-finished mods out there I want to put at least SOME polish on it before sending it out. I want people to have a good time playing my mod that leaves them saying "I can't wait for the next version!". I don't like when the flow of a good mod is a few minutes in and abruptly stops, so yes you have to trust me in word which is hard to do. By the way, thanks doublethink and mosaic for encouraging my use of org's, and the others for their help with my picture editing woes.

Oh...also about the not having screenshots, my mod lost a lot of progress after a...accident with the mod, and I'm finally getting back on my feet and making plenty of backups. So I promise soon enough I'll add screenshots.

Well, polish definately helps set the mood for someone playing a mod more. Just don't do too much in case you find yourself needing to make large changes.
