If so, that's not bad planning, that's just plain irresponsible.

Well, I misjudged my abilities. I though I could code a gun somewhat, but I found out from this thread that I can't.

It's ok, Assembly is NOT for everyone. Can't stress that enough. You have to be above and beyond object oriented languages (C++ Java etc) to write straight code, must have a very sound and logical processing mind, and all that goes with it. I can grasp some written languages but writing straight up machine is advanced programming. Don't take it personally.

It's not THAT bad -- it's like the RITOD under false pretenses!
And I've done stuff like this before (but to a much smaller extent), so yeah.

@Lune, you can still learn this stuff. It just takes dedication.
Try making that weapon I said to do, it should be easy enough to start from.

Indeed. If it was the summer I might be more inclined to actually, you know, learn it. Unfortunately, school is being school. And for some reason, when it's the season for school, I get really lazy, emotional and depressed.
So yeah, I'll really try to do that weapon, although it'll cut off all that time that I'm not working on Misery Story.
...This is really sad, since I want to be a video game programmer.

The industry, in general, will not require you to code in assembly :)

But during school you should feel more motivated to learn!

And if you feel that the gun that I've mentioned to you in the PM was either too complicated for what you already know/ you don't want to work on it at all, that's fine.

Even though assembly isn't needed for the career, it would still be good practice, and would probably help in dire circumstances if your game started to crumble. I don't know, I'm--

If that case were to happen to such an extent you needed to ASM hack your own game, it was time to leave the company months ago.

One could always optimize one's own engine with ASM. I heard there are some teams who sole job is to optimize programs so that they run faster.

Hey guys. I formally apologize for this thread, and for pretending that I know more assembly than I actually do. I barely know anything about assembly hacking, and I can only do very small hacks. So obviously this thread and idea is abandoned, and I won't be working on any weapon hacks. The couple hacks that are on the OP of this thread can be used for whatever, though.
I also apologize for the necropost.
