Yeah, I'm weird and I try to imagine how the characters's voices sound as they speak in the game. Oftentimes, I compare their voices to characters from other places.

Sue: A normal 8-year old girl's voice.
Curly: A voice similar to Anna from the Mr. Driller games.
King: A deep-sounding voice, warrior-like.
Jack: A nerdy, nasal voice.
Misery: A voice similar to Nina Williams from the Tekken games.
Balrog: A voice similar to Homer Simpson.
Ballos: A voice similar to Scar from The Lion King.

Are any of these even close to what you think they sound like?

Personally your impression of Balrog and Jack are very much off in my minds eye. If you can think of a voice for a male adult character with a cheery and somewhat childish personality then you probably have Balrog. And Jack with a nerdy, nasal voice kinda weirds me out. Though I am not sure if I can describe either of the voices.

The Doctor: Similar to Professor Hojo's voice in Crisis Core maybe?

These are the ones I imagine completely different.
Though Balrog with Homer's voice does sound amusing....

For Jack, I imagined something basically average, maybe a bit irritating, but not nerdy and nasally o.o; {Well, his hand makes me add just a pinch of gangster or something. Just a bit.}
Balrog? I couldn't compare his voice to someone, he has his own voice...
And Ballos, I hear him as having a deep, booming, beautiful singing voice. It goes well with his insanity...

But that's just me :D

Wouldn't that be "Mind's Ear"? :(

Uh, this.

You can fit one of the cast members into basically any of the Japanese voices in here.

You know, this is what is going to happen sometime in the future: someone takes Cave Story and it becomes the same 2-D adventure we all know and love but with 3-D graphics, sprites, whatever you wanna call em' and it will have voice acting too.

And I will forever love and cherish the first person to make it.

That. Will. Never. Happen.
Ever.
I imagine Balrog as having a bubbly yet deep voice. Bubbly can apply to voices, right?.
We don't know how old Sue is. She could be 8 or 14. I imagine somewhere around 11.
Curly has the generic voice of every female anime protagonist ever.
King sounds like Batman.
Jack can sound like whatever he wants, no one cares about him.
Misery has the generic voice of every female anime antagonist ever.
Everyone in the world thinks Ballos has a deep, booming and powerful voice.
Toroko sounds like a whiny 7 year old, because that's what she is.
Chaco sounds like Marilyn Monroe (I had to say it).
Professor Booster sounds exactly like Professor Oak.

Booster is far, far too serious to sound like Professor Oak. Remember his last words in the better endings? "Take Sue with you and flee this island... I beg you..." His voice actor would probably have to be flexible since he also responded to the motorbike ride with "Mmm. My life flashed before my eyes." :D

3d? Ugh.

Though I wonder how much sound data can be added to the exe. I sense a mod.. :D

..if we could get quality voice actors. :(

I disagree with booming. A deep and powerful voice sounds more like Ballos.

I didn't say he had to act like Professor Oak. Just get the same guy, and make him sound more frail and desperate.

Who is Norio Wakamoto? If you have a clip of him talking on YouTube or something, that'd be awesome.
Ballos would probably sound like the Ghost of Christmas Present, in any play or movie. Only with manical laughter.

Would sound like every generic teenage boy anime protagonist. Like a heterosexual Ash Ketchum. (Why yes I do like Pokemon, how did you guess?)

Ballos should talk really quietly, UNTIL HE YELLS AT YOU!

That video was incredibly messed up, and not that entertaining to watch since I don't have ADD, but the subtitles were fun.
But sure, Curly can sound like that. Why not?

And Sue as Ranma's english actor.
and Jack as (I COULDN'T GET ANY OTHER RESULT, OKAY!) Rukia...

Balrog as Homer Simpson? No! Balrog may be just silly Balrog, but he doesn't sound like a middle-aged D'oh character.

Ballos as "Scar" from lion king, that might work.

As for the vocaloid video, that's not really my impression of what Curly's robot voice would sound like. The Cavestory Anthem gives a better approximation.

i could just imagine cave story as a current 3d game with voice acting

and all i can think of is king walking in with knuckles' theme from sonic adventure playing and it's so hilarious that's all I even need to think of
