Ideas for a Cave Story 2?

I've considered making the 8,934,906th Cave Story comic book that centers around the game's aftermath. I have a couple of ideas about the Demon Crown's lore and what happened to it after Ballos was defeated, but that's about where my imagination ends.

Anyone got anything?

 

Here's an underrated suggestion, don't make a sequel idea based on the third ending, cuz there's absolutely nothing to go off of. Things are way more open after the second ending (with or without mimiga mask), and since events relating to the third ending are canon to the game anyway, elements from that story route can be introduced in a whole other direction.

Maybe rather than going forward with Quote, Curly and Balrog there could be some kind of story about the Sakamotos and the aftermath of the events in Cave Story

I doubt you can just go to the island like that, probably need some sort of permission or something (like you would with Antarctica) and I'd assume the island could be monitored from the distance in case anything weird happens

Maybe there could be a story talking about the consequences after the research team went to the island??? (though I guess there wouldn't be many as in the ending they're shown chillin trying to make a machine to turn Itoh and Sue back to humans iirc)
But the surface could also be shown, and I'm just making shit up at this point but I think that the surface would still be recovering from the (potential) world war that happened 10 years before CS

If you plan on making a story I would like to be updated tho, I think it would be interesting to see how it turns out... I think it's an intriguing premise and have wondered about the surface for a while...
Since Chaco and Santa are shown in the ending mini cutscenes I wonder if mimiga living in the surface isn't a novelty
quick edit: I know they brought them from the island but it just makes me think if during the war some mimiga came to the surface and stayed down there, who knows

 

A slice of life mimiga story could also work, yeah. It could also work as an anthology, showing events before the war, during the war, during the 10 year pause, during the events of the game, and maybe even after the end of everything.

 

Make it a series or movie, call it "Mimiga of War" and use this as main theme

 

It's a shame that NiCaliS doesn't seem interested in answering any questions related to Cave Story's...well story.
I'm this close to actually doing it.

 

Pixel wasn't even up to doing that himself, either. Especially when half of his answers to lore questions asked in his BBS would be "I leave it to your imagination". May you bear fruit with your plans for the sequel.
