Idea for rep on the forum

I always liked the idea of having a repping system on forums.

I am not entirely how this would be made, but its just food for thought..

thoughts?

 

Something turned it on for a little while, but it didn't go over too well, mostly because of the scandal associated with it. I'd not be opposed to a second try, properly introduced and implemented, but I'm not a huge fan myself.

 

The problem with rep power is that people are going to abuse it. Now, you might say "Well obviously, but that's not a good reason to keep it disabled." Why should we enable it, then? I don't want a number assigned to everyone that says how helpful or annoying that person is. Form your own opinions, and give them verbal feedback.

It turned on for a week or so, was terribly implemented, led to some random people having shitloads of rep, some people who really should've had shitloads of rep having none, and the forum ended up revolting because nobody (the people that mattered) felt like it was a good idea for people to be pre-judged by newbs just because of what their rep woz.

I'm entirely entirely entirely against this, but go ahead.

We take the forums seriously. It's unfortunate that a technical staff member does not.
