I really, REALLY think Pixel is making a new game

Feel's rather empty...

Hmm, any idea on how the room connections work?
Do we connect automatically with everyone? Does it limit the amount of rooms we see at once? If it does, howso? By location, connection, activity, etc?
Because, I don't think me, Noxid, and Fahrenheight are the only ones playing this ;
Fun little game, though.
You could compare it to Chess or Checkers, just a little stragety game you can do off-hand with a friend.
Oh, and whaddya think the odds are of playing against Amaya himself? ;
{I'd totally record that...}

T-Jack and Gir played this although i don't get a chance on playing with them..
and shi tzu too, darn his good

and some other else played them too, green-whatever- oroborus etc..

I'm a bit cofused too, when I host, I didn't get a chance to play...




and thus, the battle between christmas balls continue...

 

Hosting does seem a bit buggy. Oftentimes when you host, it will set up a connection and then there won't be any players >.> just the timer going up and up.

I've not had any problems when joining a game, though.

Well, it is only version 0.8.0.2, It's pretty cool that we get to try it

It gets easier to estimate the shots as you get use to the gravitation pulls, though I still play with 50% luck
The layout can sometimes screw you over, too.
GIR spawned right next to a small body, and even though my shot went random, his actually stopped short of touching me, turned around, and hit him in the face.

EDIT: I think I should point out this article, with helpful comments by Shih Tzu himself. Also, who else thinks this could be a much bigger and better game if only Pixel spends more time on it?

It may seem like a small game, but the physics and internet connection bits probably took a lot of work.
But, with the history of Pixel's previous games, this might just end up as a sort of mini-game.

Well, I'm not complaining that this is released. I'm just saying that it has potential to be an awesome game. One game window, more players, the ability to set the power of your shot... Really, Akantares could be the next Cave Story.

I didn't really think you were dissing it or anything, but I wanted to make sure people don't underestimate this game
And I can see a lot of awesome things that Pixel could do with Akantares, too.
But....I'm not sure it could really be the next Cave Story... {Unless, by 'the next Cave Story', you meant milestone or something...}
I think that Akantares is just a little project Pixel worked on to learn new and better skills. {Like the physics and online}
That means it'll probably stay like a mini-game, but the next projects he works on will just be 10 times more awesome.....
{So the next Cave Story would be around the corner}

By "the next Cave Story" I meant "popular like Cave Story". I guess. And I hope that happens. Even if it is a learning project, there's no reason for why it couldn't be expanded into a full fledged game.

Antares is the home planet of Antarans from Master of Orion 2 and, according to a five second Google search, a RL star. There's probably a connection.

Well, Gir noticed while he was translating the game that there was a chat-like feature, incomplete, sitting in the code.
I'm sure that by version 1.0.0.0, chatting will be enabled

Well the emotion feature is really cool, but yes i cant wait for chat

I think there needs to be some abstract space like music faintly in the background while you play the game

Nay!

Well, if music was a separate option from the regular sound, I suppose so.
But I currently like it's no-music state.
That way, I can listen to my music that I've already got running, and work on various things while playing against someone.
{The in-game music would probably stop playing if I go to another window}
That's probably my favorite thing about the game, being able to do something else while playing it, because it's all about strategy, and takes awhile for just one move.

Yeah

I find myself doing something else while playing cus some people take longer than others. Ive ussualy made my move in about 3-4 seconds.

Anyway i gotta go now lol
