Sure it was in-key, but...

It's only "in-key" because it's autotuned to the point where you can't even recognize her actual voice.

As soon as autotune comes into place for anything more than individual effects that are meant to sound edited, it's not music. Rebecca Black's song cannot be considered the worst song ever recorded because it's not a song.

This.

In a way, it seems like nowadays 'singers' just talk. Talk. That's it. And they autotune it to make it sound like they are singing.

Like Kesha, for example. I don't think that's singing. She's just fucking talking.

Do you mean dismiss? Because if we adjourn it we are just gonna take a break, then come back later to argue more about this.

Well it may be auto-tuned beyond all recognition, but that doesn't mean it's no longer music. In my opinion, singing and lyrics should make up a very small part of the song. I do frown upon auto-tune and with good reason, but it doesn't mean it's not music. These days, most pop music is enhanced to quite an extent, but how 'organic' does it have to be to still considered music?

The problem with autotune is less that it isn't natural and more that it sounds like crap

I agree. Autotune may stop something from being good music, but not from being music altogether.

Not quite, because I knew that people would still post after me. If you think about it, will the forums ever be "dismissed"? After a thread "dies" we simply move on. Like a virus sending people to the hospital, it will just continue to grow until someone stops it (and let's hope this forum never gets stopped :droll:).

Well this is often the true meaning of the song "Friday" (unfortunately).

Youtube is now a better place to be: she removed the video.

If you don't think friday was hilarious, I'm not sure what's wrong with you.
Sad to see it go, but haters gonna hate.

SHE didn't remove it; her parents sued Ark Music Factory or something and it was eventually taken down.
