How would you divide up Cave Story?

I would divide it into three acts. The first, from the beginning to the end of the Sand zone, is mostly quite light-hearted, until the end where it makes a dramatic turn with Toroko's death. You then end up in the Labrynth, where things get worse with booster and curly dead/injured. You revisit the now ruined Egg Corridor to find the plan for escape nearly ruined, where Kazuma (I think...) makes his proposal to escape, ending act two (the act where everything goes to hell). To start act three, you courageously climb the outer wall, hoping you can stop the doctor. You infiltrate the plantation and stop the doctor. And then die to cherub rushes.

Well, I suppose I can say that you're the first to think of Cave Story as a play. I divide it into levels, and I think most other people do as well. Mimiga Village, Egg Corridor, Grasstown, Sand Zone, Labyrinth, Waterway, Egg Corridor Two: This Time It's Not Egg Corridor One, Outer Wall, Plantation (and all associated quests), Last Cave, Balcony, Sacred Grounds. Except for when we were working on the movie script. Then it was scenes.
Also, Jacob, no one uses spoiler tags. If you haven't beaten the game, either do so or suck it up.

So bored. I'll stay off the forums until May, because there's not really much to talk about until Cave Story Wii comes out.

 

I would end Part Two at Ironhead and end Part Three at Plantation.

 

I would divide it into,....
chapters like a novel, usually coinciding with each new level/area.

Or if you want to break it up differently...
I'd break it up into Until being sent to the labyrinth [Toroko's demise was a heart-breaker in my opinion (when I first played, thought I messed up and restarted the game trying to figure out how to save King and Toroko...)]

Second part uh.... I guess till the end of the game!

 

If I were to divide it as chapters in a novel, I would make "From somewhere a transmission...." to "?!" The prologue.
Everything up to reaching the Egg Corridor chapter one.
From then on to our protagonist being sent to Bushlands chapter two. Bushlands to The encounter with Curly chapter three.
Then on to returning the final puppy to Jenka chapter four.
Everything after that to waking up in the Labyrinth chapter five.
(Is this boring you yet?)
Then to beating Monster X chapter six.
Then to the Core room chapter seven.
Then to returning to the Egg Corridor eight.
Then to the Plantation nine.
Plantation to Final Cave ten.
Final Cave to after the Undead Core eleven.
Everything else twelve.

Bushlands is the 'official' translation of Grasstown, seen somewhere here in this thread about the Cave Story release on the Wii.
