How does Balrog just "jump" from the top?

Perhaps Balrog phases through solid matter, but upon defeating Ballos he is forced to hurt himself by crashing through it (as he can't make Quote / Curly intangible with him). This could all come from an enchantment given by Misery to him.

Highly unlikely, partially silly, intentionally a joke, but nonetheless it does explain why he is only hurt that one time, and none of the other times have a *crash* noise.

That's actually a decent explanation. Misery herself can phase through matter, she does so whenever she leaves an area by flying upwards instead of teleporting.

Here's what I found from the script:

I think it's implying that Misery sensed Ballos is now defeated and she told Balrog to save Quote and Curly assuming she knew the walls would close in on them. So she teleported Balrog in the room which explains why he jumps down "from out of nowhere" and then he jumps up into the ceiling knowing that was the only escape route.

And since you don't hear anything breaking on Balrog's way down that further proves that Misery teleported Balrog in. And if Balrog had found another way in, why didn't he go through that path then? With that evidence it proves Misery teleported the walking toaster machine into the seal chamber. I rest my case



And everywhere else once Balrog is a certain distance away from the room he was once in Misery teleports him away?

Maybe Balrog jumps down from the ceiling out of nowhere because Pixel thought it was a fun and convenient illustration! Different from the usual "teleporting in and out" bullcrap.
