How did Balrog get involved with everything?

In all of the the Cave Story history I've heard, I don't recall hearing Balrog in any of them. When and how do you think he got involved with the Demon Crown and such?

 

Ballos needed a way to clean his giant balls, so he magically conjured up a giant bar of soap. But this bar of soap, being magical, was alive. This is balrog.

 

HAHHAHHAHa...oh that made me laugh. Was he originally Misery's servant? It seems like he is almost a weapon

 

Doesn't Jenka mention him being her nephew/Misery's cousin when you first meet her? Maybe Balrog was involved in the creation of the Demon Crown somehow, so the curse afflicted him, as well. Or maybe Misery just cursed him herself so she'd have some kind of servant. She seems to use him to get out of doing things herself throughout the game. =P

Agreed, he's probabley a robot sent from the surface, though I imagined things slightly differently.

After Misery became the Crown's servant, Balrog simply did what any good friend would do: he stayed by her side. The Crown doesn't control him, but it's able to judge what his angle is and includes him in its actions and plans since it knows he's gonna be helping out anyway.

 

Does the Crown have that much of a conscience?

Yup.
So Balrog is imprisoned by the crown.

 

A simplified way of saying that the Crown's dead and neither of them is serving it anymore. Why launch into a wordy and unnecessary explanation when you can just say the curse is gone and celebrate your new liberty while it's still fresh?

 

I'd expect, unlike Misery, that Balrog wasn't there from day one. My theory is that he came with the humans prior to the red flower war, just as Malco likely would have.

Yep I would have said something like that. Balrog seems to be a robot so maybe he was separated from the humans and got lost. He stumbled into Misery...

Heh. I assume you realize that it meant destroying them. (Obviously you meant that, right?)

But it did make me think of something, what if that was actually what he was told to do, and Misery somehow convinced him to think of it the other way.

Misery = Jenka's Daughter(?)
Balrog = Jenka's... son?
Balrog is probably a robot. Nothing would even be able to give birth to him
