How can I play with 14:9 fullscreen support, and how do I fix the occasional lag? (

I just want to play in a rectangle instead of a box, and, despite my shitty PC still being able to run Cave Story +, the original lags heavily.

 

Alright, Crotchstick, I'm here to help. First of all, are you talking about widescreen in Cave Story+ or in the original?
If you're talking about +, the Steam version does not use widescreen. There's not an option for it or anything.
If you're talking about the original game, there are a few ways to go about doing this. One way is to play a fan project such as Doukutsu.rs, since that supports widescreen by default. Another way is through Clownacy's Mod Loader, which is a dll that is has options such as widescreen, changing the ost, and several other things. I assume that lag you're talking about is Cave Story's default 50fps the original vanilla version had. It's not lag, the original game ran at 50fps so that it would be able to run on every computer back in the time it first came out. Clownacy's mod loader lets you set it to 60fps.
I mean, unless you are like those goofy goobers who ENJOY playing Cave Story at 50fps....silly geese

Nah, I have 60fps set to true, and it still lags.
