Buh buh buh buh buh buh Buh buh buh. Buh buh buh buh buh BUH Buh. Buh Buh Buh Buh Buh *cue Rocky 1 theme*

Finally, after working on this since December, here': HALO STORY!!!!

It is basically the same Cave Story you know and love, with some edited sprites, tilesets, weapons, and plotline. It follows the same basic story as the original, but it's HALO!!!

For the plotline, you'll have to understand what happened at the end o Halo Wars. Read the plot here

Weapons:
M6G SOCOM Magnum (Halo 3: ODST)
Rocket Launcher
Brute Shot (Fireball)
Plasma Rifle (Bubbler)
Assault Rifle (Machine Gun)
Energy Sword (What do you think?)
Missile Pod (Super Missile)
Shotgun (Nemesis)
Spartan Laser (Spur)

Here are some screenies:

p83330-0-screenie1.png

Egg Corridor is by far the most changed map, in terms of enemies and tileset.

Misery's hair is the right color, and I added more facepics

p83330-1-screenie4.png

p83330-2-screenie6.png

Here's another one

p83330-3-screenie3.png

And what I'm sure Dragon Boots will love: All the resources are PNGs!

Now it's V2! I added some more maps (four) and fixed some bugs.

Here's the download. Enjoy!

Use cave editor to remove (c) pixel requirement. Or, if you prefer, add (c) pixel to npccemet.png

C:\Users\Taeler\Documents\Halo Story\Halo Story\data\Npc\NpcCemet.png,1

^ error

I got it to work :D

I did remove it. I think I deleted Window.rect or something. It worked perfectly last night.

Edit: Okay, took off the requirement put it back on. Let's try this again.

Things that can be improved upon:

-Santa gives you the =Fireball=!
-Index listed as ID card in inventory
-With Chako's face, when she says
"You got the =Jellyfish Juic
Amazing!
You can only carry one at a
time, but you can take it a
many times as you want."
bits get cut off.
-When you finish grasstown and talk to Sue in Arthur's house,
the part where she says "can we take this little guy with us" gets cut off.
Also, immediately after that when booster mentions the ARK he needs a <NOD before a <CLR (again a little bit later after king's interjection)
... and then king calls it the sand zone. Booster too, if you talk to him afterwards
-That background in the ARK kinda makes me dizzy...
-Something about Curly... Idk, I tried to update this earlier and lost what I typed.
-The abandoned house background is black instead of deep blue, and the floor can be seen
-I think date looks like he has a mustache... is he supposed to?
-

On the plus, you got some Sick new graphics there bro. Did you do those new facepics yourself?

Very nice work :D

Nah, the facepics were from the fanart thread. But
King calling it the Sand Zone (I think he said "You mean the Sand Zone?") was intentional.
I thought I got most of that stuff :D. I think I'll just upload the fixed TSC scripts. But that will be later. Maybe in three hours or so.
EDIT: No, I'll just re-upload the whole thing. Don't forget A: To move your Profile.dat and B: Do the good ending.

I made all of the graphics, except the facepics. I'm really proud of my egg library stuff.

You should be proud, It's great. Better than mine...

I'm goin through the rest of the game now, checking out what other nitpicky things I can see.

And, I had a feeling that was intentional, just wasn't sure.

More stuff:

-You made the jump to get to the cabin in the waterway pretty easy...
-The cabin itself has this wierd blue block thing by the ceiling. I recognise it from the original tileset, but it looks like a debug thing.
-More <NOD in the dusty book on how to drain machines
"it appears that her armor takes<NOD<CLR
some
time to reboot." (spacing is funny)
Hah! first time I ever got Ikachan, playing your mod.
-Eh, I somehow flew up thru the ceiling in start cave. :s
-Small <NOD problem in the speech with that crazy face guy shortly after.
-Oh noes, how do I break the block under me? oh wait, it's just reallly hard.
-First lil bit of a charged Splazer shot(lv1,2) doesn't line up with the rest. II bet you probably knew that though...
- Another issue with Text lenght, this time It's Kanpachi in the rest area
-And again, when you talk to him fishing the second time (didnt notice anything first, but I kinda skimmed it too.
-Chie text overflow...
- Can't even freakin' beat ballos. And with 5 more HP than normal!
Whatev. I'm sure the ending's great.

Crazy face is a
Rampant AI
Doesn't that give him an excuse to talk weird?

Also, fix'd. Here it is. BUT IT'S STILL V1 because it's the same day, minor changes, and I said so.

Thanks. I'd put you in the credits for Alpha testing, but I'm pretty sure I ran out of space for 'special thanks' and I don't understand how the numbers after the name work. Also, did you
find the skull?

Nope, I did not. I wasn't looking for one, though. Maybe I'll poke around a bit, see what I can see. Don't spoil it for me though :(

Good job with the mod, it was interesting to see how it has (Somewhat loose at first) connections with Halo Wars, especially since I completed that on Legendary about a week ago... But before I start sidetracking, here's a few things that weren't mentioned earlier that might need to be mentioned (And a few others that aren't as important)-
The Mario cameo around Egg 15 (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) was an unexpected, but interesting surprise. Was that an indirect reference of sorts to the Super Chief World videos?

Yep, I found the Grunt Birthday Party Skull (After randomly shooting at one of the Forerunner symbols with the Brute Shot), but when I tried to view its "selection" message, I got a Buffer Overflow error. I'm guessing it doesn't have any particular effect, as of now.

When reading the notebook on how to drain the water from Alice's armor, a <CLR tag was not set right after the 2nd line of the book's text (Which also overlapped the 1st line's text) & the mod's window closed. According to what little I understand of this error message type, it was listed as <CL in the event script instead of <CLR.

Pointless add-on about how I got around this without tweaking the mod-
In order to continue, I copied the Halo Story save over to the original Doukutsu game & ran the event from there. I saved the game afterwards & copied that save back into the Halo Story directory.
When getting the extra Life Capsule from the AI CthulhuConstruct in the bonus room around the Start Point, the "Get Life Capsule" music didn't play. Nothing too critical, but someone was going to mention it eventually...

I was half expecting an extra part added on the end with the G.B.P. Skull, but I guess not... Then again, I still had Mr. Little in the inventory when entering Sacred Grounds, so maybe there was an extra <ITJ added in that I didn't notice?
Despite how I originally pictured this mod before the release...

Hidden text highlight (or click) to view:

...Battling Covenant instead of Critters, for instance...

...it's still a neat mod that was worth the wait, in my opinion. Nice work.

Thank you.

I was thinking of Covenant, but there wasn't a good place to put them. I was going to make the Flying Gaudis into drones, but they have the same death animation as normal gaudis. I was going to make supafreak Misery into a jackal, but it just didn't look good on her. The GBS doesn't do anything, and I'll fix those bugs soon.

Mario was an inside joke at my school: "Mario is a real egg".

And no, the skull doesn't do anything.

This mod is great, but I ran into a bug in the Waterway Cabin that wont let me save
Curly, since everytime I try checking the notebook, the text overlaps, then it can only get to "If they are submerged for too long a period". Everytime I hit Z to continue, the game locks up and comes up with a weird error message, forcing me to restart the game.

Okay, sorry I haven't been here, school and all. But I added four new maps, and you need the skull to get to them. You'll want to restart, sorry :), because it uses flags that would already be set
If you talked to the AI dude already. He gives you an extra weapon and there are three new screens to fight through first.
