Personally, I use UnFreez, I lost the link to it though. It animates GIF files, so make the different frames (in .gif format, saving as a gif in Paint fucks the sprite up, so I use a program called GiFFy to convert my 24-Bitmaps into GIFs) and drag them into the UnFreez window.

 

I think Irfan View works too.
And teh Gimp, if you don't mind a linux-style window set and manually entering timing values into each layer...

I've tried converting BMPs to GIFs using Irfanview, but it adds tiny little pixel spots sometimes. If I still had a working copy of Microsoft Picture It! 7.0 I'd use it, but since the only working one was on my troubled computer, well... I guess The Gimp's the way to go, then.

I tried recreating the catgirl thingie and it has the "unregistered version" thingy.
Maybe you have the registered version.

I'll give it another go though.

 

If you send me a series of BMP/JPEG stills (ie. frames of the animation), I can compile them into an animated GIF using (Le Gasp!) Macromedia Flash MX.
