Correct. It's no use hoping that critters are diurnal, because I'm assuming that the mysterious light source is not the sun and does not emulate day cycles. I like the glowing rocks idea the best, personally, and that makes the most sense for the abandoned part of Grasstown.
Also, don't be afraid to talk to Quote over Twitter. Nabi said something to him about Weedtown but then he got knocked out so it is lost to him until morning. Just don't reveal his future, although it would probably be funny if you gave him some ominous hints.

He's rude but not that rude. Besides, I'm pretty sure he does say things. Unless people are just reading his tweets, and that's how the conversations work in Cave Story. Sounds awesome!

Of course he does occasionally say things, it's just that he doesn't unless he really needs to. And now we know why.
