Not long ago I would have voted for Curly... but she's boring. Curly's entire character is like and then she's like :'( and then she's like and then she's like ? and then she's like . I don't like perpetually cheerful people. They irk me. Misery's much more interesting than Curly, and honestly, I've stopped caring about how sexy they are.

now this, I don't agree with. I love happy people, cheerful people, jolly people. I wish more people were like that. Unfortunately for Curly, she seems almost ditzy in her cheerfulness and when you have her next to the more realistic girls like Misery, Sue and Toroko, it makes her personality seem kind of odd and unfitting... and yet, there NEEDS to be some cheer like that amongst all the bad crap going on, and I still think Curly rules~

Any cheerful female sidekick in any video game will remind me of Alyx from Half-Life 2, because I love Half-Life 2... but holy God, do I hate Alyx with a burning passion. Not that I hate Curly, but she's just not as interesting as Misery. Sue isn't a very friendly person, and she never did anything for me, why does she expect me to like her?
Toroko's a whiny brat, Chaco's a total slut, Jenka just sits there and gets beat up, Momorin's like "I are specail i are build roket," and Nurse Hasumi is probably a female.

what the hell? It's possible to dislike one of the best mixtures of 'realistic', 'badass' and 'likable' female characters in video game history? Much less HATE with a BURNING PASSION?
I kinda want to make you re-play hl2 until you understand her character.

B) she has very very good reasons for being as pissy as she is
C) being as angry as at how things are going makes Sue one of the most believable characters in the game, and you feel for her
D) she at least *tries* to kick ass
E) whether you like mimigas or humans or strangely 10 year older-looking mixtures of both sue's got you covered
F) those beta drawings pixel did of "Su~" make me feel like i'm being cuted to death

lmao, okay, have the leader of your village freak out at you over and over just because you're trying to be nice to someone--who isn't even outwardly thankful that you're nice to her, not until after you're gone, at which point you never even hear it. then get kidnapped and taken somewhere you don't want to be. then be forced by a huge box monster to eat something that you know is going to kill you. then get murdered by a dude with a gun that you thought was your pal. these characters have such little to do with the story (yes, even momorin, despite passively being related in some way to many important characters) that there's not really anything so say


*edit* ALSO, Yakkers, I've seen that doujin, but 'doujin' = 'japanese fan comic' so it hardly supports anything than what the creator of the doujin wanted~

I was standing by one of the holes that the Barnacles hang through, and she pushed me into it, and I got stuck to the Barnacle. All I had to do was wait until I was dragged back up, then kill it and step onto the concrete. But no, Alyx decided it was a good idea to shoot the fucking Barnacle, dropping me into the electrified water below.

 

Misery. Is. Interesting.

That's the only thing I disagree with. True, she had a bit more character than the others at times, but her character was rather bland. She basically appeared as the slightly sophisticated and sarcastic sidekick to balrog, and there was never anything I found "interesting" about her, save finding out she had an extra line or 2 near the end if you wore the mimiga mask (and it was more interesting just to know the fact, really).

Can you explain how she's interesting? I'm not seeing it, maybe I'm not trying hard enough.

- you seem more concerned with what happens during gameplay than alyx's actual character. even *if you simply judge her by gameplay* she does more and is cooler than like any 'lol generic supporting female character' in just about any game I've ever played. as far as character, she's a bit more than what valve programmed her to wield or do in specific situations
