I reseved an error saying that MFC71.DLL was not found.
any idea why Cave Editor would need a spyware to run.

I do not wont my data being sent to anyone!
I have looked this DLL up and every place I went it said, "This process is a security risk and should be removed for the system" (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070603081240AA58UjZ).
Is there a way around it?
Does anyone have a hacked copy?

Eh..

Cave Editor has no spyware or viruses, trust me. Anti-virus programs just get jumpy and call clean files bad, sometimes.
Anyways, where did you download it from?
The preferred place would be at this thread, where the creator, Wistil, is constantly working on it and updating it.
If you already downloaded it there, it might be a good idea to try and re-download it, because problems with missing .DLLs usually means a bad download or something....

Then he should download it again. somewhere else.
A DLL can't be Spyware on it's own.
I could provide malicious code, but can't execute it, so don't worry.

It's a standard windows library from microsoft.
There are Mal/Spyware versions of the file but if you get it from the file from microsoft it will be fine. I'd place the file in the zip file myself if it would work but I think that would be more suspicious to most people.
I hope that helps to alleviates your virus fears.

Microsoft isn't too helpful in getting a copy of that single file but I believe its part of the .net install package.

I guess I could statically link the library but I recall people having issues with that in the past.
I'll put statically linked version in the zip file to help resolve your issue.
