True an it would be much easier to make it a whip, though we would have to figure out some better weapons along the way:

Weapon Idea: Weapon 1, the Fishing Whip. (if the weapons have levels)
Lv. 1: 1 damage, 4 tile range, 10 XP to lv up
Lv. 2: 2 damage, 5 tile range, 20 XP to lv up
Lv. 3: 4 damage, 6 tile range, 20 XP to max

(mimics most of the polar star's stats, other than the 20 xp to max, and I think some of the range)

idea coming to mind...Fish scale rapier. we know Jacob would play it, at least from what I have read of his posts. Kill things with rapier = raping them with a sword. (lol)

I'd say 1 tile, being a melee object, and instead of rockets, exploding lures.
Lures with exploding hooks of death. sounds like fun to me!

if we take all ideas, and pool em together:

Fishing whip (his fishing pole: low damage, moderate range)
Exploding fishing lures (high range, moderate damage, range doesn't change, but power does)
a rapier (1-2 tile range, low damage, damage skyrockets per level up)
and a fish (I SO agree on how awesome it would be to slap someone to death with a fish, so 1-2 tile range, moderate damage)

how does that sound?

2 and 2, now how about interchangeable weapons (like blade/nemesis)?
