Did you give Quote a name before you learned his real name?

On my first playthrough of Cave Story, I felt like naming Quote 'Max' before I learned his real name. (because he's always MAXING out his weapons) I am interested to know if you guys gave him a name on your first playthrough, if not, what would you have named him?
Discuss.

 

I named him "Unnamed scout robot".
I'm completely serious, once I even signed a school assignment with that name during my first playthrough.

 

I had no name for him. If I had to choose a name for him now, it would be something boring like "the protagonist" or whatever. I didn't even know he was a robot until later because I never really thought about it.

 

"Mr. Traveler" works well.

 

"Cpt Awesome and his red baseball hat"
Nope, didn't really cross my mind to name him...

EDIT: Yeah when I met Chako, I might have used Mr. Traveller

 

First time playing Cave story:
Friend:"Oh hey! Just so you know the protagonist's name is Quote. And hes a robot. Oh yeah, by the way, you'll met his partner later
(Did not specify name and location). Then you steal her undies."
So no, my friend likes telling spoilers. D:

 

I just thought of him as 'me'.

 

Just like my characters in Skyrim, I just slap my name on him.

 

I named him Curly Bracket.
Actually I knew his name before I played the game, so yeah.

 

I can't really remember whether or not I knew his name before I played. Or maybe I found out halfway through (not through the game, but other sources.) Regardless, I don't recall ever assigning him a name. Just "the guy in Cave Story"

 

I called him Guy.

 

I didn't really call him anything. I just assumed it he was both nameless and mute so you could essentially insert yourself into the game as him.
The immersion was kinda broken when I found out his true name, but the little twist was good enough to prevent me from caring all that much.

 

To be honest, I called Quote, 'CaveStory' after the game. Stupid, I know, but I was ten or eleven when I started playing Cave Story. It was also completely unaware to me that Quote was a robot. I thought he was a deformed Mimiga, tbh.
Now I feel dumb. ;-;

 

I called him "?" Because when the down arrow is pressed...
You get the idea.
Also, I thought it was fitting at the time because of his amnesia.

 

He had a really interesting protagonist name, "Jim".
But I can't really remember why I named him that. So if I had to rename him now the name for him would have to be... Joey.

That white cap guy.

 

I think I remember calling him "my robot guy" but at the time I was 11 so I was dummber than I am now. And I ended up looking up his name. I had known curly's name, just not quotes. I looked it up and immideatley made a connection, theyr both types of punctuation!!!

 

I never named him anything because he was me, and I was him.

 

I didn't play the game blind, unfortunately, and had no special name for him.
