making this thread in part because i'm hoping it'll inspire me to get back into documenting this kinda stuff, but CS3D has some cool little environmental easter eggs that my friend Daedliy and i found (or at least were the first to publicly document afaik), most of which you won't really notice in-game unless you're playing on an emulator with increased resolution

1. Save Disc has 'Cave Story' written on it, as well as the original sprite on its texture sheet

2. The computers in the Core room have the UFO from Megane (also binary that so far nobody's been able to decipher)

3. Crates in Yamashita Farm have, well... 'Yamashita Farm' written on them

4. food

...that's all for now!

There is an admirable amount of little details in CS3D...
Tried to figure out the binary, not sure I got the third row's numbers right though. No luck...

Oh, this reminds me again, on an unrelated note:
Cave Story 3D USA

Title ID 000400000004A100

[60 FPS during gameplay]
20183838 00000001

Gave it a good 4 hours of trying to decipher the binary before throwing in the towel for the night. I sincerely doubt this is what it means but here's what I found:
I THINK it says
0101010010101001
01010010101010101
010101000111000001
100111011011100010111

Taking away the extra letters at the end, to make each row 16 digits, and adding them as their own row at the bottom gives you
0101010010101001
0101001010101010
0101010001110000
1001110110111000
10110111

Which when run through this (and setting "Character Encoding" to Unicode) gives you this
咩努呰鶸·

Which when run through Google Translate, gives you this

Could it be an encouraging reminder from someone at Nicalis to always do your best? I doubt it. Given those appear to be Chinese characters, and I doubt anyone at Nicalis would go through the effort to run Chinese characters through Google Translate not through Chinese, but Japanese instead to get "work hard", and THEN convert it to unicode, and list it all on a texture that no one's gonna be able to see very well anyways. Plus, the supposed 8 digit character can be removed altogether and the translation stays the same. There's 100% something I'm missing here.

That's all I managed to find tonight. This mystery is utterly fascinating to me.

huh, well that's something even if it's probably not the correct answer!
