...anyway, you lift the rug only to find: hot dog! a key! you've no clue where the corresponding lock is (maybe it goes to the chest and metty neglected to lock it before taping the key to the underside of her rug, who knows). nevertheless, you put the key in your inventory.

as it turns out, there's not even a keyhole on this thing. it's just a black box attacked to the front of the chest. don't even latch or anything. whatever, all this means is that there's some juicy secret waiting to be unlocked.

 

put the rug in your inventory as well, and then head outside. (time to get this show on the road)
