THIS MOD WILL NO LONGER RECIEVE UPDATES.
Read below for an explanation.

Cave Story X (or CSX) is a Cave Story mod that adds more to the original game, including areas and effects.
This mod was started in late 2012, and the last update for it will probably be this one:
November 11, 2014.


The reason for this final update is that I feel like I need to post what this mod has turned into.
I won't be updating it anymore, so, hey, why not?
I don't like what I've done with this mod, and I wish to end it.
Most of the areas would have to be redone, as I don't like the look of them (See the Wind Fortress area, for example).
This mod does not show off my capabilities at all, and I wish to create something greater.
Don't worry about the credits, they are listed at the end of the
game, upon getting the "Good" or "Best" ending.

well, I've played up to the mimiga village, and I have some thoughts

#1 three profiles is really cool

#2 quite honestly the 2X res sprites from CS+ put under 1X look bad. . . especially misery.

#3 When you enter the gunsmiths, you leave the map to the right but re-entering the place leaves you in front of the mouth of the lion.

#4 the 2X res background in mimiga village was done nicely

#5 and Yuki. . . did you ask Noxid to use her?

Standard for Mods is screenshots of some sort in the initial post. Not very many people today meet the standard but I thought you'd like to know.

I could, but I'd only use it to make tuny sprite differences like by two pixels

That's funny, Yuki is also the name of an important character in a hack (King Strife and Sacrifice) made by Noxid.

Because she's a mimiga I suggest on your next release that you change the name to prevent confusion. :p

EDIT- one more thing, the map system isn't obtainable, (unless that was purposeful) instead you get an awkward pause for three seconds.

Sand Zone?
4th ending happens at Bushlands (Skip Santa's Key until the end of the level and Kazuma rides away with Booster)

Mine was called Cave Story: Extended Cut of Epic.

Nice ASM hacks... even if you got help from noxids available hacks.

Looks choppy at yamashita farm entrance... but thats not that bad. You tricked me into thinking that the beast fang was that easy to get.on second thought... looking at the maps it seems that

you require the beast fang to get to wind fortress... I also had the whole beast-fang fourth ending idea... except mine was completely different regarding the effects of its obtainment.

trying to get the map system results in 3 blank <NODS. probably change that even though pressing the map key will still bring it up. hey... do those face pics seem familiar? and this translation?

oh and apparently Balrog can cry tears... what an interesting soap-poping toaster. Meh... I played until egg cord. maybe ill try that 4th ending in grass town/bushland some time. HOLY CRAP thats some EXEs you have there.. lets take a look: Option_Blue2D.exe = oh! a translated DoConfig! SDK install:

I really don't think you have rights to sell another 4th ending mod... just my opinion...

Upon playing wind fortress... its incredibly easy... and buggy...



you need to change those nulls up on the top of room #2 (after drafty cave) to a single H/V trigger. i passed through them and thought "where the heck do i go" because I'm on top of the map.



And i fell off the map numerous times without dying... add triggers to the sides as well.



and in the 1-block thick holes in the floor of room #3, same thing...



And it brings you to a ghost puppy... and then ballos room, and then...

Easy fight with 96 total missiles... and then its just island falls... and the same thing (at least what i saw... stopped it after Balrog jumped down.)
Interesting... I'll have to maybe play further on the real mod some other day... even though I already saw the result...

Um... Not possible. No matter what, you can't get the Charcoal unless you get into Santa's House. You can skip the fireball, but you have to give him the key so you can progress through Grasslands. (*Shot for not calling it Bushlands*)

Anyway, I did you a big favor and basically bug-tested Cave Story X for you. I have a lot of things to report, so sit tight.

Bugs that I found:
Some doorways don't work, but you appear from them when you leave. (Hermit Gunsmith for example)
After dieing, when selecting retry, the game restarts. It doesn't load the last save you did.
Something I noticed, is the lack of hearts dropped from enemies. Is this intentional?
The sparkle item for Map System does not work. It just freezes the game up for a while and then resumes without the item.

Jack's dialogue is glitched after King and him take Sue, BUT before you leave Arthur's House.
Grasslands was renamed to Bushlands. (Not major, but to some, especially me, bugs them)
You don't have to get the fireball first before you can get the Jellyfish Juice.
It is possible to skip the Fireball entirely.
If you skip the Fireball in Bushlands, it is still possible to get the Snake in the Labyrinth.

Misery's facepic box has a weird back color. I also believe her facepic sprite is different slightly.
Toroko's facepic is a down-res'd version of the one in Cs+.

The jump to the Waterway Cabin is harder, but this is either a good/bad thing. (Adds difficulty to the area)

In the areas where you fight the Balcony Trio, some blocks are green instead of a beigeish color.
Also, what's up with all the corpses in the Balcony? (It doesn't look like a Mimiga... kinda like a cow maybe?)
The final battle with the Undead Core crashes the game. Whether you have Mimiga Mask or not, it still crashes.

I have a question. If you gave this to your friends to play/try out, why didn't they notice some of the issues? If this is your first project, (Which I believe it is) then this is a darn good start. I do want to see some more out of this.

I very briefly looked at the challenge version and what the heck is up with it? The right leads to a vague Wind Fortress that ends up leading to Ballos. The second option with Time Attack doesn't clear the timer you get from either of the first challenges and the bottom option just plainly doesn't work. Also, when going through the credits from either Wind Fortress or Sacred Grounds, some scenes in the Credits are messed up. Backgrounds are weird, entity placement's are different.
