I just saw Suite Life on Deck, and Woody was playing Cave Story (Start Point - Quote was just jumping) in a virtual game centre. The episode was something about Zack is afraid of bananas... I first thought who cares, but it somehow shows the game`s popularity.

Yay, recognition!
I wonder if the clip would be anywhere on Youtube or something.

The whole episode ("Goin' Bananas") is on YouTube, and you can see the Cave Story on an ARCADE MACHINE (sheesh) in the background in the beginning of the third part here.

Woah... that's just so weird.

I doubt that they actually got Pixel's permission to do this (sensing a potential legal problem here...)

If I ever found Cave Story on an arcade machine, I would play the fuck out of that thing, because it would be awesome. Unfortunately, the machine in that picture has four joysticks with three buttons beside each. Very... unique way of playing Cave Story.

Lol.

Joystick = move
Red button = attack
Green button = jump
Blue button = inventory

Weapon switching and seeing the map is done through inventory.

Thus, 4-player cavestory ;). Not sure how that'll work out.

Quote, Curly, Malco and Cthulhu all go on a quest to... rescue Princess Peach?
Also, inventory weapon switching would be annoying. Maybe each of the joysticks controlls a limb, and they share control of the head.

This is obviously the "Disney" version of Cave Story, approved for tween girls everywhere.
Notable screw-overs... Uh, CHANGES include:
  • Chaco's Easter egg has been removed
  • The red bouncy-blob enemies are now a more pinkish shade
  • There are more clothing options for the main character, as well as a new female quote to play as
  • You can also play as any of the main characters from your favorite Disney shows!
  • Balrog's catch phrase is no longer "Huzzah!", but "Aw, snap!"
  • Any real humor or creativity has been removed
  • Mr. Mosby, Rico, and other meanish characters from the shows are now the bosses
  • All the guns have been removed, and in their place are notable items from your favorite Disney shows
  • All actual combat has been removed, as you now have dance-offs with the enemies
  • The bad and normal endings have been removed, and so has sacred grounds
  • The game is much less difficult
  • The plot has been substituted for one with many more wacky hijinkses and disguises
  • The game is now called "Hannah Story Life on Waverly Place"

I am so damn sold, where do I pay?

Also, the "arcade" version of Cave Story apparently doesn't display your stats. Is it EXTREME like that?

I guess someone working on the show really liked Cave Story. Enough to record themselves jumping and then play it on a TV.
But seriously, how did they get rid of the status bars?

And the save point is missing. And it doesn't really look like Quote in the first place.

And why haven't they gotten past cutscene 1? Or they just got the spur, but considering the intelligence of the cast, I doubt they would have suspected the correct method of getting it. So, they have just started, and then walk away for no reason.
Disney channel is stupid.

So stupid they broke Cave Story?
I looked at the image more closely. Turns out that it's just zoomed in, so you can't see the status bars. But why no save point or health box? It's probably the second Last Cave. As I said, one of the staff likes Cave Story, so he got to the Spur and recorded that, for whatever reason.

CaveStory in Suite life on deck.

My sister was watching the DC show Suite Life On Deck. It was the episode with some game called 'Better Life.' On one of the sceens in the virtual arcade, it shows Quote jumping up and down in the map Start Point.

Does Pixel know/care?
