Cave Story IRC

Yeah, an IRC channel, especially when it's young and only has a few people in it, is less like an IM service and more like e-mail that has a chance to spontaneously evolve into real-time conversation.

It helps if people do stay logged in. For one, it reassures visitors that it's not a dead channel, and new people are more likely to stick around. Secondly, if you're lurking you're far more likely to notice when there's activity than if you're not there at all. ;P

I personally try to keep my list of channels visible at the bottom of my desktop, underneath everything, so that even if I'm busy working on some project in another program I can look down and notice that one of the channel names is red, meaning somebody has spoken.

yeah but i just check the channel when im on the net, which can usually be not long especially when i got lots of work to do

Is there a specific server that you're connecting to? The actual servers that I've seen are mother.23-net.org and father.23-net.org. Even if connecting to irc.23-net.org doesn't work, one of those may.

On the other hand you're not the only one who has reported being unable to connect today, so maybe the network is being wonky.

Screw this. I can't connect, and our current server crashes a lot anyway.

I'm making a new channel at irc.kaffeinenet.com. I've got a friend who is apparently an admin there, plus the server is 10x more stable than our current situation. All ops positions and such will be honored (Basically Shmitz and Shining, but still ).

It's going to be the same channel, #Doukutsu

 

I haven't got any prob's with connectin'... So I will be still there, don't know what you guys have, it never crashed for me :x
