Cave Story Flash Port

First thing's first. Since I first booted Cave Story, it was love at first sight.

Very few games had ever inspired me as much as Cave Story has.

That aside, I am searching for people interested in a port that has yet to be heard of (to my knowledge).

I am thinking of porting Cave Story to the Adobe Flash.

Are there any developers that have enough expertise to guide me in this project?

I need a team of skilled and willful fans to do this, but the results could be extremely gratifying...

Anyone?

Pixel has requested a temporary halt to all homebrew ports of Cave Story. Sorry.

Depends if you don't give a shit about it or respect Pixel's opinion.
Most people don't give a shit about it, when the work comes from another people, they don't know. But when it's master Pixel, then they will insult you.

I think this is a very different situation.

Making the game in flash form would simply make it playable by more means, it wouldn't make it a console port. It would still be PC/Mac/Linux, just like the original, with the difference that you could play it in a browser.

I don't see this offending his will in any way, since it would stay essentially the same...

Well, are you an experienced flash designer?
You'd also need to get his permission, which a lot of people seem to forget about.

I see no reason to make a Flash port. It would basically mean rewriting the game from the bottom up... which doesn't make sense when it's already available for most platforms.

Plus Flash is not really a very versatile medium...

Anything that could come out of a Flash Cave Story couldn't be good.

Like Celtic said, it would be like basically making the game again, except downgraded.

You'd need to remove a lot of things to make it successful on Flash.
