Don't create your art.
Become your art.

Celtic Minstrel said:...what the quack? Why did Speedy's three pictures all get a standing ovation? There's really no call for that. They're pretty terrible, to be blunt. I can't even see any redeeming features in them. Now, maybe that was the point, but even if that's so I think it's pretty stupid to praise someone on something that's honestly not praiseworthy. In other words, don't tell someone their work is "beautiful" when it's really quite bad. It does a disservice to the person, and certainly won't help them improve.
I'll note that I'm not really complaining about the art itself. It's bad, yes, but it could be a lot worse, and with a just bit of work it could probably be decent. It's the reactions from other people to the art that is puzzling me.
Nah, I suspected there may have been sarcasm (as suggested when I said "maybe that's the point). However, the only evidence of the sarcasm was the clash between picture and reactions. In other words, it could just as easily have been sincere as sarcastic. Some sign of sarcasm, such as a or emoticon, might have been sufficient for me not to have that reaction.Malpercio said:ERROR: CELTIC MINSTREL HAS SUFFERED A CRITICAL FAILURE OF HIS SARCASM DETECTION DEVICE.
