Curses! all the great (some are great in spirit, even if it does destroy my soul looking at the.... Curly...thing?) artwork makes my work look fairly not good.

Let it be known I absoulutley detest drawing hands. Most of the time they turn out incorrect or... just looking medicore. Also, the shading technique I was trying to use, to varying degrees of success or failure, did not help matters with said hands. Or the background.

The guy in the background behind pre-insane Ballos? Yeah, that's the asshole who thought it was a good idea to torture a wizard of Ballos's caliber into insanity.

About the hands: You aren't giving Ballos and palms, his hands are 90% fingers in the picture o:

About the king in the background: His crown, it looks a little too much like the demon crown.
That might confuse some people at first glance.
Maybe change the colors a bit?

I thought that too, but then I thought that maybe the design of the demon crown could have been based off of the crown of the old, evil king.

 

I had the same thought for a minute, it sounds reasonable.
Just might confuse some noobs is all.

 

That's a good picture. You took a pretty aggressive aproach towards the shading and hands. I know that shading technique, it's pretty dangerous because most of the time it turns out bad. Not saying that it did in your case though. You could've made the hand look normal without giving so much emphasis to it. I mean, whenever I can't draw something I usually make it small, in the corner of the screen or partially hidden.

 

I think his palms are just in his sleeves.

 

Thanks, everyone. I appreceate the commentary, and will try to get better at drawing hands sometime soon. Maybe.
Anyway, the reason I'm posting at 3 AM-ish is generally a grand old mess of a Virus bugging my computer, which has since been system restored into an alternate reality.
Anyway, while looking through my backups, I found this old (debatable on that point, not able to determne it's age) unfinished thing for all to laugh at, as a treat:

Seriously, I have no idea when this was made. I can tell why I was trying to make it - since it's an attempt at Gurren Laggan style, Or at least I assume it is from the title and artstyle. Your millage my vary on my success or failure. Also, I notice that hand problem again. Seemed I was reeeaaallly bad at drawing hands back whenever I made this. And the lines. But since I have no background for this, I may be able to smooth over them yet. Also note the square-ness of the Spur and Nemesis - I realise that their in-game sprites are rather blocky, but these are too blocky for my liking. In fact the whole thing is almost too blocky for my liking - I may have overdone the art style a little.

 

I drew up King in Sai, and then attempted a simple colour job in PS elements.
Hopefully I'll have more art to post soon enough, I done this a while ago and I'd still like to draw more characters.

If anyone has a request for a character to draw, I'd appreciate suggestions.
I'm just not sure who to draw next

I think pre-insane Ballos should have hair, and also I agree that the king's crown looks too much like the Demon Crown. It's a nice picture despite all that, though.

 

I think the problem with drawing hands is that you emphasise each joint in a finger.

Looks great, I really like your style.
You should draw Sue because I haven't seen very many nice simple drawings of her.

Yeh the problem with the shirt was that I was drawing this up on Tablet PC, and the colours on the display are very washed out.
So what appeared to be purple at first was actually pinkish haha.
