I'm sure most of you have heard and/or played HaydenStudio's fourth ending mod. If you haven't then go play it, it's pretty great.

This mod is similar to his, adding on a totally new ending to the game. You can even play the original game if you want! Neat.

I hope you'll forgive my lack of screenshots. It is the original game after all, and screenshots not showing vanilla content may ruin the story.

It shouldn't be too hard to find the trigger for the ending, however the answer is in the spoiler if you want to know.
You'll be locked out of the ending if you don't find the trigger before you say farewell to the hermit.

I just learned that there was an issue that I forgot to remove where you can easily get locked out of the ending without warning. The download is updated, my bad.

This was a truly fantastic mod. I played through it from beginning to end, completely engrossed throughout the whole experience. The trigger was a bit difficult to find, but once I found it I realized how obvious it was the whole time. The changes in the plot all worked great together, and not one of them felt like it was just thrown in for no reason. The new dialogue is extremely well written, to the point that it rivals the dialogue of the original Cave Story. I don't know if I'll ever play a mod quite as good as this one. I highly recommend it to anyone who reads this.
Overall, this mod gets a 0/10 what the fuck is this bullshit

How am I supposed to trigger it? The breakable block in Hermit Gunsmith gets blocked after the Kazuma cutscene, am I missing something?

Interesting mod. Judging by the title, I'm lead to believe that this was partially inspired by my mod, but I'm not entirely sure. Surely the title was, but I'm not sure about the concept.

Spoilers:
It's almost the exact opposite of my fourth ending mod. Instead of saving everyone, you let even more people die. It has some pretty dark moments I guess. I could definitely see a spin of the grimdark elements that you like to express in your art and stories. The dialogue was pretty good all throughout. The only thing that didn't seem right was that Professor Booster probably would have been a little bit more shocked at seeing Kazuma dead. He may not be too heavy on the emotions, but he's no vulcan. I saw the whole Curly Brace thing coming, that was nice. The boss battle with the enraged Mimigas and Misery was a little overwhelming, but it was fun. It was interesting having the battles in the final act mixed around a bit.

But yeah, the overall message was highly thought-provoking: Everything bad that happens to you could have been prevented but you're too selfish and negligent to stop any of it from happening.

There are just a few errors I'll point out:
-At the beginning, I'm having the same problem as ThatPortalGuy. The path to that breakable block gets blocked once I open the chest with the Polar Star. It wasn't obvious to me how to get through there once it gets blocked, so I hacked the game to give myself a Polar Star before opening the chest.
-When I went down to talk to Professor Booster in Labyrinth B, he told me that his final invention was waiting for me in the Mimiga Village. That's all fine and dandy (not really, since everyone's dying), but I couldn't seem to find a way back up, so I had to reset the game.
-When I go back to Grasstown after arriving at the Plantation, it seems that another robot is being set up in the power room. It seems unlikely that Malco could have done that if he was smashed beyond repair by Balrog earlier on.

In the Mimiga village I was just about to lose interest until I decided to give it just a little bit more time and then was pleased to see that the changes began as early as your first visit to Egg No. 00 with Sue after defeating Igor. This caused me to retain my interest until the end. Overall, I enjoyed it. Not many games these days can captivate me enough to make me spend the evening playing it when I should have been doing something else and then go to bed 2+ hours later than I was supposed to, so good job!

That's awesome, glad to hear you enjoyed it. And yes this mod was completely inspired by you.
I'll look into that trigger glitch that's bizarre. One sec, I should be able to figure everything out.

So, after picking up from where I left off (after you lied to me about this being a chain yanker), stuff did happen.
Like Baka, the mod ultimately resulted in numerous feels of the anger and sadness variety.

What, so making a mod whose purpose is to evoke negative emotion is a bad thing? Taboo? I mean, not all mods can be sunshine and rainbows. Of course, very few mods are overly positive, but rarely do you see one cross the line to that extent. To be honest, I like it when I find things like this, since they help me feel the associated emotions without the drama that normally accompanies them.
