CandyJam - 2 Week Game Jam!

Yo everybody it's a new game jam check out the main page:

It starts Today and ends Feb. 3. That's two Mondays. Two whole weeks before it's over!

It was started to protest certain game companies trying to claim copyright on common words in titles (such as "candy" or "scrolls"). So consider makin' a game about candy. I know I will! I'm probably gonna see if I can put my platformer engine to good use.

So it's happening.

I really wish I could say I've never played Candy Crush, but I have played a couple of levels...I actually prefer Bejeweled, sorry.

Trademarking "candy", I see as ridiculous, because it's such a common English word. But what about words that are lesser known, like "Pac Man" when they came up with that Pac-Avoid game or whatever it's called?

 

Frankly since Pac-Man kind of invented the word Pac they might legitimately win a copyright claim, but it's also not the full name of the character so who knows.
