I don't know where the Post went. But I was going to say that I am Making more of my Cave Story Mod Tomorrow. And that it will have 10 Levels.
Very likely that DT merged your posts into one. It's best to keep it that way.

SAY this is real helpful. I was just about to learn how to mod Cave Story.
Who is this blink guy?
I've never heard of him.

Hey BLink, I'm bumping this thread because I just noticed something. The link next to the assembly compendium instead contains a link to the Ollydbg skins. Might want to fix that.

Huh, wonder how that happened.

Thread has been updated for the exciting new year of 2023.

I added a section of CSE2 vs Freeware because that wasn't well explained, and I cleaned up some other things. I tested most of the links to see if they still worked, but if you catch anything off just let me know and I'll update!

Edit: added instructions on how to get the .dll modloader working in WINE

Going into 2025 here soon; I don't really pay attention to Modding CS these days, but if yall have some stuff I should add to the thread or modify, feel free to add them and I'll update the OP for you.

At best I'd suggest adding Sky Dragon Editor as an alternative for Booster's Lab. Currently, it's functionally the same, and it uses a very similar UI to that of Cave Editor.

Also personally, I'd suggest using SDE to anyone who let's say, installed a graphics update to their computer (be it through Armoury Crate, Nvidia, DirectX, etc), making the interface in BL glitch out on them as a side effect (or anyone that already has visual issues with BL the first time they try it).

I was having some issues with Booster's Lab v5.0.0, so checked this thread to re-download it... and the link to Booster's Lab is dead, boowomp. Noxid changed where it was uploaded to (originally his website, and now GitHub), so here's a better link:

It even has a newer set of versions, going up to Booster's Lab v5.1.1!

You know what, speaking of, it would be a good idea as well to link this post here. This has links to some archived versions of BL, some in the tribute site, and some older Mediafire links that I'm, surprised Noxid hasn't taken down.

EDIT: Oops, I accidentally repeated an older post, but I do still think this is relevant enough. Also link to another batch of older open source hacks.
In light of Noxid doing the Thanos snap to several of his contributions to the modding community, here are a couple links to the posts I made where you can still download them.

There is also @autumn_mnya 's fork of BL which, while most of the changes are to better CSE2/Doukutsu-rs functionality (things like fixed stage.tbl exporting and .png mode), it does have the most up-to-date entityinfo.txt (fixed an error or two and actually labels all those "CRASH" and "Nothing?" entities) ((Noxid's main branch also got this update but there hasn't been a release yet made to include it)) and supports the layers/extended tileset hack. It's pseudo the new place for BL updates since Noxid has basically finished what he wanted with his main branch.

There's also https://freewarehacks.doukutsu.club/ which is where we're trying to put together and host as many hacks as possible in one spot (which of course is still not 100% done but it has everything posted within that modding discord server from up to 11 months ago... and I should probably push an update soon), including a "hacks" folder of XMLs that is meant to replace whatever outdated folder any release of Booster's Lab gives you.

And on the topic of editors, there's now Sky Dragon Editor, which is in closer adaptation/design to Cave Editor but, you know, actively in development with up-to-date labeling and entity lists and an automatic tool to download/update the hacks from the 2nd paragraph above. This was already mentioned.
