I don't care if you disagree with me. I was more commenting on this:

Imagine a spaceship shapped like a fractal.

Oh that. It seemed kinda fractal, it was listed as organic so...

I voted for fractals mostly because I prefer the art of mathematics. Spaceships are cool too, if executed correctly.
Why did I have to start this?! Why?!

And these are just ships you can control, I'm not even talking about the ones that are settings for classic TV series.

Now make fractals interesting.

You don't have to make fractals interesting, they just naturally are interesting.

For instance -- they can occupy fractional dimensions.

Sci-fi spaceships are just big clunky improbable pieces of metal.

Fractals go on foreverrrr, and look pretty, and are just in general much more interesting.

I can't even fathom why fractals are winning.
Art vs. Space travel, you decide.

Space travel is boring in general. The world realized that awhile ago, hence why the Space Race is over. I mean sure going out to space is kind of cool, but what's out there? Space? That's it?

And the coolest spaceships are fake, whereas fractals are real and are a naturally occuring phenomenon. So fractals easily win.

Space is so boring the next time we went to the moon we brought golf clubs so we'd have something to do.

Getting to the moon and space in general was like clipping through walls in a video game. Sure you may get to see things you've already seen in a different way, but now what? Now you go back to where the real shit is happening. Like fractals.

Can I change my answer to "Everyone in this thread is an idiot?"
Thanks.

We're not discussing space, we're discussing spaceships. If we're going to factor in the ability to see space, then I'm afraid your pro-fractal argument holds no water. For instance, you seem to think that the infinitude of fractals is pretty neat. You know what else is infinite? Space. There are at least 200 billion stars in our own Milky Way. That means there are billions of planets. There are also hundreds of billions of other galaxies with hundreds of billions of stars.
But alright, those numbers are too high to mean anything, and it's unlikely we'll get outside our own arm of the Milky Way unless we take a shortcut through time and space. There are still so many amazing things in there that you'd never see all of them in your lifetime (Saturn's rings, the Crab Nebula, the Sirius binary system)

I don't care how boring spaceflight itself might be. If you'd rather look at something Jed made quickly in MS Paint than the sunrise on another fucking planet, then this discussion is over.

Also, did anyone even see Cowboy Bebop?
Shit was so cash, even the beat up and busted down old ships were badass

And Gir, if we're only talking about real-life spaceships, then we're only about real-life fractals, also.
I dunno about you, but I've had my fill of staring and Ferns and Nautulus shells for my lifetime.
Plus, true fractals don't even exist in real life, they're always approximate; there are plenty of true spaceships, so spaceships, as you were so eager to put it, "easily win" on that front.

Your starting to take this too seriously for it to be fun anymore. This is turning out like a console war. I like my Wii- I mean fractals! Alright?! I don't care which one is better, (cause everything sI said was obviously a joke) cause quite frankly, it won't change my opinion on what I find more interesting.

That's like saying parabolas don't exist in real life because no parabolic surfaces are perfectly smooth or few objects follow a perfectly parabolic path.

I find this thread-argument funny because it is indeed as polarizing as expected.

*Not-so-on-topic: Bebop was cool and all.

I voted spaceships because I've been playing way too many shmups lately and I'm sick of algorithms
