I think in the vanilla game it has "ignore solid" checked on (That's in BL terms, so whatever its counterpart in CaveEditor as well). Since it is supposed to be connected to Quote you don't need it to have any solid properties.

There are some small maps that are made to specifically fit the dimensions of the screen, so in widescreen you would have black bars on each side. This is a pretty common map type (most indoor map).
